In World War II, Emperor Hirohito announced in his surrender speech to the Japanese people that "the war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan's advantage." And now we have a similar situation in Afghanistan as you can see in these video clips in which even the liberal media has noted that the situation in that country is collapsing. The big question I have is that since it has been known for months that American troops were leaving Afghanistan, then WHY did the United States leave behind tons of equipment? WHO made the decision to NOT airlift that equipment out of a country that any sentient being could have seen would inevitably fall to the Taliban?

A heavily armed Taliban could invade China to save the Uyghurs who share the same religion. If that happens China could be in for a long fight which would be beneficial to the USA.
Russia and China are about to step in.

The news is the media is not ignoring the humanitarian disaster that’s occurring and they’re putting it on Biden. The media will not run a story even remotely critical of a Democrat with an ulterior political motive. It must be almost time to dump Biden.

The fiction was that the Afghan National Army would continue to fight the Taliban on their own. So they needed that equipment.
And to be fair, Biden didn’t have much of a choice here. Had he pulled everything out, the United States would have been accused of abandoning an ally. And that accusation would have had some merit.
As for me, I’m directing my anger at the guy who botching Afghanistan from the beginning: George W. Bush.

The Taliban figures Biden is weak. Just like he was all through Obama when Barack put VP Joe in charge of Afghanistan (according to Bob Woodward’s book Obama’s Wars), and Joe neglected the hell out of it. Just as VP Kamala is neglecting her assignment of The Border.
After the tallibums take the embassy, the state department will offer diversity and inclusion seminars and instruct these barbarians on the proper pronouns to use ....

Fully agree.He rightfully went in and won the war and achieved our military and national security objective within three months, and, rather than leaving the rubble there as a reminder not to transgress, he then proceeded to snatch defeat from victory by changing the mission to rebuilding and lose it over the next 20 years. No more nation building. Ever
1) Wouldn’t it have made sense to time our pullout/surrender to take advantage of winter? If we had waited a few months, the Taliban wouldn’t have had time to mop up before fighting season was over. Despite lots of terrorism, an orderly evacuation of Kabul by yearend, removing lots of weapons and munitions, etc. would have been possible.
2) As others posted, WHO planned and commanded this debacle? National Security Advisor, Joint Chiefs, Regional Commanders and staff planners, etc., should all be fired. This is what happens when politics runs a miltary.
3) I suspect the weapons in the pics were dumped by the Afghan Army we trained and equipped. We’ll be seeing those again.
