No advice.

But I have been in some of those homes.

They were much younger than me. It was like they gave up and lost all care about how they lived/survived.

At one, the top of the bed was about 2.5 ft above the floor...trash wall to wall was level with the top of the bed. The trash was mostly soft drink cans.

I sent pics out with the caption..."There is a bed there".

I would take whatever that web site has to say with quite a bit of skepticism. Nothing says scientific like this:

“Reversing Diogenes Syndrome: Success Stories Part 2 The Raw Vegan Plant-Based Detoxification & Regeneration Workbook for Healing Patients”.
I like the page listing the scientific review board, its just blank.

I live in an immaculate home well decorated.   My dear wonderful wife insists on it.   I'm the slob with clutter on my desktop but even the rest of the study looks nice.

It sounds like married couples are fine—it is normally people who live alone who are more likely to get weird without getting feedback.

“Me—Dear, do you really need to keep _that_?”

“The Wife—Well, I will throw it out if you throw out _this_?”

The compromise may be that nothing is tossed, but at least there is a discussion happening.

;-)

Mom was a hoarder, but not of specifically gross things. They just got that way after years of being hoarded. She bought things she thought the family could use, but never handed them out, just packed them away. Believe it was the first indication of dementia which is now full blown. She still hoards the condiment packets from the dining room at her assisted living facility. I clear out her fridge every couple of weeks.

In these days of COVID, I thought it might be going from doctor to doctor trying to find an honest one.
