I doubt it was, but it is possible.
Agree.
I heard Trump interviewed on it. The gist as I understood was that he thought it was pretty cheesy and under built...not near enough structural integrity.
Thank you. I respect his experience in building things.
That description does not surprise me.
I am a fan of simple efficient design. Not much practiced today, but there was a time that good simple reliable design was the trademark of US manufactured products.
Now it is all smoke and lights and bells and whistles and incredible complexity. Reliability sacrificed for flash.
Computers are not a universal solution for problems. They often create many more than they solve.
One interview had a person who was talking to a resident on the phone describing that the pool and building was shaking. Said the call got noisy and then they heard nothing.
Forgot to add that rescuers reported hearing tapping all night but no voices.
Well it’s Florida. Surprised that this kind of thing is not more frequent.
Yes and it’s not relevant to the collapse.
Before and after pics;

Engineers have their license and livelihood at stake with an error. City inspectors are political beasts. Many are Mindless Bureaucraps.
Something cause the substructure to go away. Sinkhole, too close to the ocean, poor drainage system, something took away the base. When the base is gone, nothing above it is designed to support the load on a few vertical beams.
Likely true.
The exterior frame on the World Trade Center was like that too, in a way.
It was strong until fire and heat from burning jet fuel destroyed the strength of steel.
The “progress” seems awfully slow at the site.
It was a housing complex, not vacation rentals. People lived there.
