Doubtful this bill will see a full House vote but it does remind us that democrats won't go away until we're all disarmed.

***Penalties for non-compliance would include fines and the possibility of imprisonment.***

And where are the prisons to lock up a quarter of the US population?

The US military, National Guard, Police number about 2,500,000 men.
VS.
20,000,000 civilian semi-auto rifle owners, and maybe 75 million other firearm owners, and over 400,000,000 firearms out there. 250,000,000 high cap magazines in private hands.

And the government thinks they can “regulate” that?

I actually might be okay with this provided the license is ‘Shall Issue” and would allow the license holder to carry their weapon ANYWHERE in the United States and it’s territories. That includes government buildings, government lands, schools, sporting arenas, airports, and airplanes.

After all, if a license holder demonstrates firearm proficiency, passes a background check every five years and the government approves the license, they should be considered ‘safe’, right?

The Plan since at least 1962, finally articulated in print in 1976. They have just added rifles to the list.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.(Now the Brady Center)

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them ALL REGISTERED. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, made a grab for the semi-auto rifles and shotguns, and missed. Then Josh Sugarmann tuned in. This has been the mantra ever since.
“ Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons —anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun— can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”

– Josh Sugarmann

“”Penalties for non-compliance would include fines and the possibility of imprisonment.””

They forgot to mention the possibility of death. Enforcement of a law like this could be hazardous to ones health.

Let's try this a different way, and have Crowder or someone see how many people would approve of such a sensible First Amendment regulation.

Plainly titled the Computer Licensing and Registration Act of 2021, the proposal would require that any computer owner be at least 21 years of age. Before their mandatory license is issued for a PC or Mac, would-be computer owners would first complete approved literacy training and clear a background check after submitting fingerprints and photographs. Licenses would have to be renewed every five years.

Why does the author say “pistols and revolvers”?

Revolvers ARE pistols.

Regardless, they can pound sound.

Republicans should file an amendment to the bill requiring anyone who wishes to voice or write an opinion to register with the Ministry of Truth, and to complete a mandatory course in correct thinking.

A group of Democrats in Congress this month have filed legislation that seeks to set new, much more restrictive standards for even the most basic handgun ownership

There's always a group of Dems willing to throw down un-Constitutional legislation...it's a trial balloon. If it lands with a thud, Dem leadership can walk away from it. If it has any sort of traction, it could become law (albeit one that would be challenged) overnight.
