Why does the author say “pistols and revolvers”?

Revolvers ARE pistols.

Regardless, they can pound sound.

No, they aren’t.

Both are guns. Revolvers and pistols are different. It’s how to differentiate between my .22 magnum revolver and my .40 Springfield XD pistol.

That said, they can double pound sand.

Not on federal firearms paperwork.
Revolvers and pistols are listed differently.

Negative. Pistols and revolvers are both a subset of handguns. A pistol refers to a semi-automatic handgun that is magazine fed. A revolver refers to a museum piece anachronism with a rotating cylinder that holds the rounds. A revolver is not considered a pistol, just as a pistol is not considered a revolver.
