The US government declared a state of emergency late on Sunday, lifting limits on the transport of fuels in a bid to keep gas supply lines open after the continued shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline.
“This Declaration addresses the emergency conditions creating a need for immediate transportation of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other refined petroleum products and provides necessary relief,” the Department of Transportation said. White House Press Sec Jen Psaki added that “as the Administration works to mitigate potential disruptions to supply as a result of the Colonial Pipeline incident, @USDOT is taking action today to allow flexibility for truckers in 17 states.”
Just in case the US didn’t already have a “transitory hyperinflation” problem, gasoline futures soared more than 4% – and are likely to jump much more – late on Sunday after the Colonial Pipeline announced that while some smaller lateral lines between terminals and delivery points are now operational, its mainlines (Lines 1, 2, 3 and 4) remain offline since late Friday after the company suffered a crippling cyberattack that affected its key IT systems.
Colonial operates Line 1 for gasoline and Line 2 for diesel and jet fuel from Pasadena, Texas, some 15 miles from the nation’s largest refineries, to Greensboro, North Carolina, at a combined 2.5 million barrels a day. They merge at Greensboro to feed a line carrying about 900,000 barrels a day into New York Harbor, and other East Coast pipelines.
First back to even/odd days for old times sake?
Then maybe onto days ending in 1,2, 3...?
“Even the humblest Party member is expected to be competent, industrious, and even intelligent within narrow limits, but it is also necessary that he should be a credulous and ignorant fanatic whose prevailing moods are fear, hatred, adulation, and orgiastic triumph. In other words it is necessary that he should have the mentality appropriate to a state of war. It does not matter whether the war is actually happening, and, since no decisive victory is possible, it does not matter whether the war is going well or badly. All that is needed is that a state of war should exist.”

Natural gas prices have doubled in price since Nov 2020, too. Might be VERY expensive to run that A/C this summer. Hope everyone has a wood burner come next winter.
Can those powers be used for other things...like sheltering in place to preserve fuel?
Inquiring minds (and Dr. Crusher) want to know.
We need to get off the internet and do something.
Can’t talk about what though.
Shut UP, WESLEY!................
Well, butter my butt an’ call me a biscuit! Biden actually made a free-market move!
And these computer systems aren’t air gapped, why? Dollars to donuts it was some flunky misusing company computers to look at porn, or gamble, etc. Next thing you know, their systems are infected.
I’ll bet you a billion dollars this planned and hatched by the far left...and the Biden administration gave it’s blessing to it. THEY want expensive gas.
Why was there not a back-up that could be switched in just for these types of ‘emergencies’? Totally unacceptable...................
Yes.............................
Lucky for me I get to work from home and don’t have to drive my gas-guzzling V8 truck 70 miles a day anymore (16 MPG downhill)...
We may all be in that position once again.....................
Liberals constantly throw half researched or unproven ways to totally control a problem, many that are not really that much of one or cause more problems than they originally had. They stopped the keystone to take care of pollution but have cost jobs in the thousands and now find themselves with a gas shortage that is going to cause more unemployment and even greater shortages with having to commit to means that will increase the possibility of pollution. (Like asking for increased production from areas that mean something to democrat investors when the area can’t accomplish the need increase safely)
So, if they can’t supply the oil for the states, they will have to increase our dependency, which should be almost non-existent, to foreign sources. And that isn’t bringing in the natural gas need at all. And guess who just recently found and is starting to market a huge amount of that.....Russia. I guess calling Putin names was a bit premature and misguided. And Biden should have known better as his son was on the board at Barisma which is a Ukrainian gas company that has operated in the Ukrainian natural gas market since 2002. It is one of the largest private natural gas producers in Ukraine. Think they didn’t know about it? Most likely.

Zero doubt it was planned.
All the more reason to get an electric car and rooftop solar panels. Has its problems (as naysayers are fond of noting), but does provide independence from the grid (gas included).
Quite possibly.
DING DING DING!! Winner!
