Ohio’s Mike DeWine chose not to join some fellow Republican governors in other states in rushing to almost immediately lift coronavirus restrictions. But just exactly when could Ohio reach the goal set by DeWine is unclear.
The COVID-19 tracking measure DeWine announced Thursday evening for when he will drop the restrictions is not one that had been regularly publicized by the state, and the full historical trend was not immediately available.
But state health officials said Friday cases would have to drop to a mid-June level to meet the benchmark the governor described - 50 new cases per 100,000 residents over a two-week period, which is less than one-third the current rate.
“I would not expect us to reach this threshold in just a few weeks,” said Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, Ohio’s chief medical officer. “I think it will be longer than a few weeks. How much longer, we just don’t know.”
This measure is not tied to the daily reporting of new cases; rather it is calculated by tabulating the known cases with an onset of symptoms, or first discovered, within the last two weeks. The rate excludes incarcerated individuals. And the rate doesn’t account for how many infections might have occurred during this time period that won’t be discovered until later - a regular occurrence...

For your consideration.
Maybe he is taking advice from the former gov gaysick.
Don’t think these politicians have the slightest idea what they are doing.
Really bad news for Ohio - Senile Corrupt RINO DeWiner announced he is running for re-election in 2022.
This will be a brutal primary that will split the party and allow a Democrat to win in the Fall.
Everyone thought the Multi-Millionaire Fool would retire in 2022.
Kids have been back to school here for weeks with no masks. Walmart got rid of the mask signs and arrows on the floor because no one was paying attention to them. No mass deaths or sickness. Scamdemic, plandemic, Fauxi farce.
His position will not stand. The momentum for opening soon is picking up. It is unstoppable. He will backtrack and relent, I predict by the end of next weekend.
That could be true.
Because if he’s ends up on the ballot, I’ll either not vote or vote for the opponent or 3rd party.
No more rino nose-holding. Ever.
I see Dr Amy Acton is possibly running for the senate seat Portman is leaving. She’s an Obama and a planned parenthood supporter. She was DeWhine’s COVID medical dictator until public pressure got too great. Then DeWhine tried to hire another planned parenthood supporter from South Carolina for the job, but she backed out when her background was made public. Don’t know too much about this guy, Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, but it sure seems like we have a Rino swamp here in Ohio.
Governor Mike DeWine made Stephanie McCloud the Ohio Department of Health Director. She is the former administrator for the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation in the state of Ohio. The Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is DeWhines COVID shutdown enforcer, yanking liquor licenses and shutting down restaurants that violate his edicts.
Or by then, my property in Florida will be permanent! 🏖
DeWhine is a RINO, first and foremost.
And, he’s gotten a taste for tinpot dictator policies.
He has spent the last year spitting in the faces of the bullies who stuffed him in his highschool locker.
And, he’s not ready to stop.
I thought DeWhine was term-limited.
He is. One wrinkle (I believe) is that the term limit is only for consecutive terms. I think he could sit out four-years and run again, but I’m not certain.
Before adopting the term-limits they have now, OH had a rich history of keeping Governors around for a while. Rhodes was one of the longest serving governors in US history, something like 16-years.
He had to bring in the “WeBe” Bureaucrats because locals wouldn’t punish citizens.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
Just when can Ohio expect a lifting of state-ordered coronavirus restrictions? Gov. DeWine’s goal shows he isn’t rushing it

I’m in Ohio and we haven’t even noticed any kind of lockdown. The only inconvenience is the mask really. We went to a restaurant last night and there was no evidence of a lockdown. The Chinese Buffets are open. All the stores are open. There’s not any real lack of freedom here that I have noticed. We got through the Covid peak and cases are down, deaths are down, hospitalizations are down, ICU admissions are down, unemployment is negligible. DeWine handled this business very pragmatically like any good Buckeye state resident would appreciate. I will have no problem voting for him again.
I disagree. He did what the best evidence dictated and led us through this mess effectively and pragmatically. I used to vote against him when I could because he had a poor NRA rating but he just recently signed off on a Stand Your Ground Law too so I will have no problem voting for him again provided he doesn’t make any egregious mistakes and I don’t think he will.
That’s correct.
He did a 2 month lockdown. He’s a tyrant
