I am doing my part to collapse the post office. Paying all bills either by bil pay or credit card. Asking spam mail to stop.

Sending family money through internet apps.

I haven’t bought stamps in months and haven’t had a need to yet

Crap...cut out Saturday home deliveries and devote more resources to actually “back office” processing of the mail. I’m beginning to think that some of these “delays” are INTENTIONAL and designed to get more money.

Three separate UNIONS- the counter people, the letter sorters in back, and the letter & parcel carriers.

The contracts are juicy, and covid excuse abused beyond belief. They took off for “covid” and still got paid the “stimulus”. Lot’s not at work.

The postmasters? A demonrat fiefdom of largesse appointments- totally out of sight of the regular voters- a “machine”.

That’s just for starters.

But, they SURE didn’t miss when delivering unattributed MAIL IN BALLOTS— which the dems screamed for extra money for delivery. THEY STARTED THIS current mess adding to all of the above.

Mail was terrible after TG.

But, I think it’s getting back to normal now.

Xmas season mixed with this fake hysteria nearly ruined some of my mom’s bills. We also had work done in Dec andthe business called after NY to ask if we’d sent payment. We had just before Xmas but it wasn’t there yet.

I’m still pushing mom hard on getting bills out real early (if she gets them timely). Luckily both her car insurance were received in time.

One of the few things that the federal government is actually suppose to do according to the constitution and they still screw its up. My guess is that they want to privatize a lot of it so some people can get some money. I’m sure libertarians might support it but considering how well big business supports free speech I think I’ll stick with the USPS being part of the government.

“Why Am I Getting My Mail So Late? USPS Needs Money.”

I’m not sure what this person is talking about.

I get all of my JUNK MAIL right on time. EVERYTHING I got in the mailbox yesterday...I threw away.

“in a death spiral.”

They don't need money, they need dedicated workers. There have been recent days when a carrier doesn't even come down my street. Other days I will see a carrier sitting in his or her truck talking on their cell phone for up to a half hour or more.....

Other days when a tracked package shows out for delivery but it's never delivered. Maybe the following day........

An AT&T bill dated Feb 14 finally arrived on Mar 2 with payment due by Mar 5.

The USPS is getting as bad as AT&T.

Our post office hub in Richmond Va is apparently the worst in the nation for theft.
all this “we can’t work COVID” bs is just government workers doing their jobs even worse than usual.
UGH.
But UPS or Fedex is not much better.....

I got my water bill yesterday. It was supposed to have been out 3 weeks ago. It was already 5 days late after the grace period.

Over a decade ago I converted most of my ‘incoming’ to online/email. I had noticed the PO would typically lose 2-3 pieces of ‘known’ mail every year. I had no idea how much ‘unknown’ mail they were losing.

With online, I get immediate notification. When I pay online, I get almost immediate notification of payments received. Most entities seem to prefer online payments.

Sometimes I will go a couple of weeks or longer and not receive any PO delivered mail. Three-fourths of what I do get is usually ‘junk’ mail anyway.

They were never efficient or timely in the way they did things.

Now, since the virus scam and the bulls#@t mail-in ballot con, it’s like they have a green light to totally work when, how and IF they want to!

You will not even see Walmart checkout clerks as indolent as postal ‘workers’.

Ordered a small part last month. Was shipped USPS Two Day Priority Mail. Tracking indicates it was received by the PO February 18. Was just delivered this morning, March 4.

What amazes me the most is after witnessing incompetence & corruption of the USPS, IRS, DMVs, VA, FBI, CIA, Obama Care, and so on, that people continue to vote for and demand more government control over every aspect of their lives.

I think they are taking cues from the teachers’ unions, and continuing to perform so badly that we will be forced to give them all huge raises. JMHO

New credit card is late.
Still waiting for automobile registration card and sticker.
CMS Medicare bill is a no-show.
Electric bill is either late or a no-show
Got a credit collector call over a bill I've not yet received.
Got an apartment move-out-in-3-days letter for a situation that was cured three weeks ago.
This is been going on for years. I have converted as much as possible to on-line notification and payment to bridge these lapses in the USPS and other government agencies. I have programmed my computer to give me regular reminders when bills should be ready to be viewed and paid, and haven't missed one yet. (Except for CMS, which still doesn't have an on-line portal -- it's fire and forget every single month.)

Service has been going downhill for decades. In my early childhood, the mailbox was right next to the front door. (One neighbor had it hanging from her front gate. Apartments has the mailboxes in-building. When I rented a house in MA, the mailbox was at the foot of my driveway, as were everyone elses on the street. A decade ago, the USPS moved mail delivery for my rental house to a cluster box down the street. The last two apartments had a single cluster of mailboxes for each four-acre complex.

Let's not talk about package delivery.

More and more of my third-class mail does not have my address on it, let alone my name. That tells me that the post office receives this material in bulk, so it's not subject to the same sorting as first- and second-class mail. We are not the customers any more, the commercial mail people are. We are the eyeballs the USPS sells to the commercial mail people.

Which is why I round-file all mail addresses to "Occupant" or blank.

It’s really time to close up shop with these folks. They had a good run and a great history, but they’ve pretty much gone the way of the buggy whip. There’s other options out there for package delivery. Bills can — and should — be paid online. And we can do without the environmental impact of tons of wasted junk mail that never gets opened or read.

There’s really nothing more that the USPS can offer beyond that (unless you need a commemorative Elvis stamp)...
