After what happened to McConnell on January 6, I can completely understand his point of view and in some ways agree with it.
I think he did the right thing by acquitting Trump.

Burr announced in 2016, when he was reelected, he would not run for reelection in 2022. He could care less what the voters of NC think. Since 2016 he allowed Democrat Senator Mark Warner to essentially run the Senate Intelligence Committee which Burr chaired. He stepped down early in 2020, from his Chairmanship of the Senate Intelligence Committee, when it was announced he was being investigated for insider trading. On January 19, 2021, the DOJ announced it was dropping its insider investigation into Burr. Today, February 13, 2021 he voted to convict President Trump. Coincidence?
That's mission success to the GOP. They want to be authorized dissent, not responsible to implement anything they mouth.

Because 'the press' judges people based 'on intention' - ask the idiots at the New York Times... And because the press are democrats and the women who breached the capital building in 2017 were democrats. So 'the press knew' the women's intentions were good. Even when one of the women talked about wanting to blow up the White House.
Because the press hates Trump and Trump supporters they know 'our intentions' are bad. In the Jim Crow South it was the same. Then 'the press' stood with democrat racists whose actions they saw as filled 'with good intentions' against any black person who they knew didn't have 'good intentions'....
In both situations 'the press' was able to justify their horrible hateful bias by quoting situations where 'intention' is part of a judgement and the full force of the law is used to determine that 'intention'... That's used to excuse them not even speaking to one of the women in 2017 to assess their 'intention'...it's just hatred. No different than 60 years ago...
