Barrett Firearms‘ status within the United States military is solid. The Tennessee-based firearm manufacturer has designed and built several extremely long-range sniper and anti-materiel rifles chambered in the .50 BMG heavy machine gun cartridge, as well as other larger diameter precision cartridges.

In CA, Snipers can’t use a .50 Rifle.

They passed that Law so the Politicians would feel safer.

Heck, I couldn’t even afford the ammo let alone the rifle.

Far too expensive for my blood. I can buy MANY 300 winmag rifles for the cost of one of those. $16,000 for a rifle?? Really?

people focus on gear far more than training. without training, gear is worthless. The most sniper kills ever wracked up were done with a 3x power scoped Mosin-Nagant.

A trained person with a crap kit is far far far more effective than untrained person with a tier 1 kit.

Hmmm, let's look at the 10 deadliest snipers of all time.

Coming in at first place is Simo Hayha of Finland who used a M91/30.

Next is Ivan Sidorenko of the former Soviet Union who used a M91/30.

Number 3 is Fyodor Okhlopkov, also from the former Soviet Union who likewise used a M91/30.

Followed closely by his comrade Lyudmila Pavlichenko who used a M91/30.

Are you seeing trend here yet? If you're not there's no help for you.

And at number 6 we have the celebrated Vasili Zaitsev. Guess what he used.

In eighth place is Zhang Taofang of China who used a
.

Not that long ago Ukraine dumped millions of M91/30s into the US market. C&R holders bought them by the full original crate. You could have bought 6 for under $500. I have a safe just for my Mosins.

How about a .50 BMG Improved necked down to 7.62mm firing nyclad tungsten carbide rounds of very high sectional density? Let’s say a 260 gr BTSOSP AT 6,500 fps. Vaporize the target. Even got a name; 7.62 Photon.

Incorrect. Kaliforniastan banned the .50 BMG cartridge specifically and by cartridge dimensions. Several manufacturers have produced weapons in .50 DTC, which uses the same bullet in brass cut down by .100” which produces the same ballistics.
