Very true. I went dove hunting with a couple of guys that had very expensive Italian shotguns. I had an old 870 20 ga. They were making fun of my old beater.
I hit my limit in a lot less time than they did.

Yeah but wouldn’t it look pretty on the mantle above the fireplace next to a Kentucky long rifle?

I like that idea, .50 Cal outlawed so knock it down .1 !!!

Sounds like what My Brother did with His custom made Fishing Boat. He made 15’ 10” long so that He didn’t have to meet the Regulations that are required of 16’-26’ Boat. He does have some of the things they Require for 16’-26’ like a Fire Extinguisher.

Yep, just as decades ago when skilled Top Gun instructors flying early 1950s A-4 Skyhawks bested students in F-14 Tomcats.

I learn something new on Free Republic every day.

I understood that .50 Caliber Pistols and Rifles were Illegal in CA, not the specific Round.

What am I missing here?

Yeppers, I bet Mozart could make an old Schomacker upright sound pretty good... :)

Go to CalGuns.net and do some searches..

California lawmakers are stupid. They’ve had to ban “Assault Weapons” 4 times because they get so specific in the law textbits often easy to work around the law.

Yes, I own a Bullet Button equipped AR-15.

It was Legal until it wasn’t Legal.

I’m in MS now so I’ll be “converting” it back to stock.

I’m next door in AL. Most of my AR’s have had the BB removed but some of them with BB Convertible I just backed the screw out of. It’s fun going to the gun store and walking out with multiple guns the same day, isn’t it?

It used to be that way in CA. Used to go shooting all the time when I was younger.
Had a big old F250 and always had two of my Rifles in the Gun Rack and nobody blinked an eye.

It is not that difficult to replicate. Civilian tech is roughly at the same level that advanced military tech was in 1980, roughly 30 years behind. And there were laser guided munitions starting at the end of the VietNam war.

okay.... so per your statement, civies will have access to smart bullet tech in 30 years? (which they will not) This is relevant to today’s issues how?

Sir, I’m sure you’re well aware that pulling the trigger in a firefight is but a very minor component of running a successful op. You do realize we’re having an outrageous conversation, right? Are you really postulating that smart bullet tech, which I can assure you is not even remotely being utilized by direct action U.S.MIL forces negates the need for people to train?

We’re on the same side in this fight so I am going to go easy on you... but don’t EVER say aloud in a group of professionals that tech outweighs the need for training.

As for me, I will rely on my 20 years of professional combat arms training, deep study of battle space dynamics and my physical fitness. It’s gotten me this far. Gear is very secondary to knowing how to maximize its usage and having the brains to be in the position to use it.

Your ‘tacticool’ mentality would get a lot of people killed in a stand up fight against professionals.

There have been several times in history when tech overwhelmed the skill of the enemy.

When the crossbow was invented and an ordinary serf could take out a very well trained knight, the pope tried to outlaw crossbows.

When guns came into their own, against very well trained infantry.

When the P51 newbies went up against seasoned NAZI pilots and seasoned Jap pilots and more often than not, won the day.

The civilian tech will lag behind the military tech but it will be better than the current .50cal offerings.

Also when laser guided bombs were used to knock out the Thanh Hoa bridge in North Vietnam. Previosly they would fly sometimes more than a hundred aircraft, losing dozens. The bridge would be rebuilt 2 weeks later. Then they ran with the laser guided bombs with only about 10 aircraft, knocked out the bridge and it was never rebuilt.
