As a result of a challenge I received on another forum (Christianity Today forums) I was able to link the name of Chairman Xi to the mystery number of the beast.
X is the 24th letter and I is the 9th letter.
24 x 9 = 216 = 6 x 6 x 6
I received the challenge because I had already mentioned the parallels in the prophecy (Rev 13) and the present circumstances, but my closest guess as to how Xi got the number was that he was 66 years, 6 months old a year ago when the virus escaped from Wuhan (born June 1953).
I don't consider that release an accident. And there are so many parallels between the prophecy and the current situation that I consider it relevant to search into the details.
Let's review the prophecy and see how close it comes to describing the year we have just had.
REVELATIONS 13 (KJV)
1. And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

My interpretation -- the passage describes the emergence of the beast of globalism, to which the dragon (China) gave full authority. People (you and me) looked at the beast and said, who can beat that? It rules every part of life. It has the numerous heads and crowns (for example, many governments, powers and principalities, at this point even the Vatican apparently).
And it has the aid of the disguised beast (the one that looks like a lamb), which is the media and academic establishments of modern times -- and through those, it can do all sorts of wonders in the world. The concept of fire coming down from heaven could describe the deception of global warming (which I regard as an exaggeration rather than a myth, no less dangerous because of that).
And the beast who had the deadly head wound (Xi, who suffered setbacks in his career before assuming supreme power) since then has had authority to rule for 42 months (he was given the supreme authority in Beijing in Oct 2016 just as Trump was coming to power here).
He exercised all of the blasphemous powers against the saints especially those under his control in China, during that period. And he unleashed the COVID plague on the saints too.
And now his number is revealed. He therefore should be on the verge of being destroyed by a returning Lord. (As soon as he is revealed, the man of sin who is probably the same person, is destroyed).
We also have the widely discussed parallel between the two witnesses (whom the beast overcame at the end of the 1260 days) and Trump-Pence. Discussions of that cannot agree on whether they are already symbolically dead on the streets of the great city, or about to become so.
But we seem to be in those times and places.
Just something to watch as we go forward. There is no shortage of beast ferocity in China or Chairman Xi, a man who many have underestimated, a modern equivalent of Hitler or Stalin.

Back in the 1970s I read a piece, much like yours, that identified the “man” of Rev. 13 as Bob Hawke, the president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
Long after Xi is dead, someone else will identify someone else.
I'm not putting any stock into it.
The only way China walks in is if the door is opened or left open for it. ARs etc can only do so much especially if the US military is ordered to stand down by the president/resident. Think about our police who have been ordered to stand down.

There was a Beast, in Daniel it is interpreted. The Empires leading to Rome, which were the two legs of the Roman Empire. The blasphemy is and was the same today as it was in Jesus time, deigning to be able to forgive sin. The title of the Pope, adds up to 666. The Holy Roman Church was both government and religion, and stood between God and man, a place only Jesus can take. The Pope was taken down when he lost control of the government. No more would people kiss his ring or take his orders. The deadly head wound has an example. The AntiChrist will head a religion, it is likely to be one cobbling together many others, and led by the Pope.
