Why not just conduct a randomized controlled trial to test whether masks work against COVID-19? Why assume such a draconian and dehumanizing mandate works as if it's an article of faith and create such division when we can discover which side is correct? That's what a group of Danish researchers felt, which is why, over the spring, they conducted such a study. So why have the results not been published, three months later? According to one Danish newspaper, the study has been rejected by three medical journals because the results are too controversial.
Berlingske, Denmark's oldest operating daily newspaper, published an article on Thursday titled, "Professor: Large Danish mask study rejected by three top journals" (translation from Google translate), which finally reveals the mystery of the disappearing Danish mask study.
"The researchers behind a large and unique Danish study on the effect of wearing a mask even have great difficulty in getting their research results published," wrote the Berlingske in the subtitle. "One of the participating professors in the study admits that the still secret research result can be perceived as 'controversial'." The article reveals that, thus far, the study has been rejected by the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the American Medical Association's journal JAMA, three of the publications that have been posting much of the research on coronavirus.
The CDC, prior to changing its position on universal mask-wearing, had previously cited 10 randomized controlled trials that showed "no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks." Now, the CDC and other elite institutions would have us believe that coronavirus is somehow different. The Danes were the first to actually study the effect of large-scale universal mask-wearing specifically against the spread of COVID-19...

I wonder if part of the obsession with masks is that people hope/think that if they wear masks, they are totally safe, and the sight of someone without a mask sends them into a panic and/or a rage. They treat people without masks like lepers were treated in the old days.
The issue is masks work only if you use the right mask, wear it correctly, and wear it when you should. Many people don’t do these things. So, just issuing a mask mandate doesn’t work.
Exposure rate is what determines if and how bad your symptoms will be. Masks are a component but hard to measure. I never spend more than 5 mins in any store

Masks are magic. If you have one with you, and make some sort of effort to kind of wear it right, then you are 100% guaranteed not to ever get sick.

The issue is masks are control. Control of the mind. Control of the spirit. Control. Masks are a symbolic surrender to the group. Masks are external virtue signaling. Masks create an ever present reminder to comply with the State.

Masks protect others from what ever the mask wearer might be spreading. That is why they wear masks in hospitals - because they don’t want to make their patients sicker. They don’t protect perfectly, to be sure, but to some measurable degree they do. So let’s see what the infection rate of people that are around mask wearers is. I doubt there would be a clear result for the mask wearers, but the results with the people around them should show whether or not mask protect others.
Don’t want the ‘mark-of-the-beast’ vaccine, or what ever tinfoil theory you may hold? Wear a mask. MASKS are our herd immunity, and, quite appropriately, the masked sick person is doing the protecting.
It’s only science if THEY say it’s science.
Study supermarket workers.
They wear masks in hospitals to protect against bacteria, not viruses. Bacteria are much larger; viruses are tiny and not impeded in the least by a mask.

I really like Scott Adams, but his perspective on masks is obnoxiously superficial to the point of (almost) making me seriously dislike him. “Some people say they work, others say they don’t. If they don’t work and you wear one, what’s the harm?” I see enormous psychological harm to individuals and societies in senselessly perpetuating panic, fear, and security theater. Doesn’t the emotional and mental toll of not being able to see (and hear/understand) other people count for anything when put up against inconclusive mask data? Such frustratingly shallow “analysis” from an ordinarily adept pundit, IMO.
The best way to keep from catching a virus, is by frequent and thorough hand washing. Masks are pointless. Make a habit of really washing your hands when using the bathroom, preparing meals, after using public transportation, handling money, etc.. You really have to make a conscious effort at first; rather than just quickly rinsing your hands but in time it becomes a habit.
Take off the filthy dirty mask that does not do anything to further herd immunity, one way or the other, it just gives you acne, and makes life very difficult for those of us who have suffered some hearing loss and depend on lip reading.
Also, regarding herd immunity, I suspect the reason that testing shows so many people demonstrating antibodies to this virus is because we are at, or near, the herd immunity threshold.
Stop believing the lying media, they have an agenda.
Again, just wash your hands often, and let nature take its course with what is now a mild cold virus. When did the Chinese start manufacturing quality anything? This virus seems to have reverted back to its original state; that of a mild cold.
If your health is so poor that a cold can kill you, than indeed you might die of this cold virus.
masks and their miracle protection remind me of when i was a passenger numerous times flying over oceans in the 60’s , they had life vests that included a packet marked shark repellent...
did it work? thankfully I never got to use it, but believe it was just a psychological crutch.
