President Trump scored a town hall meeting with NBC News, directly competing with one scheduled on ABC News for Joe Biden.
The dueling town halls will take place tonight at 8 pm Eastern.
Originally, the second presidential debate was supposed to take place during this time slot.
The October 15th debate had been thrown up in the air after President Trump’s positive coronavirus diagnosis, though he has since been cleared to appear.
Still, the Commission on Presidential Debates sought to change it to a virtual format.
They would eventually cancel it outright, prompting both campaigns to seek alternative means to get their message out to the American people.

Competing head-to-head against Biden will almost assuredly mean more viewers for the Trump town hall and NBC.

“Taking the wind out of their sails” is what comes to mind when I think of this. :)
The day after, MSM will be turing cartweheels to suppress/lie about the ratings.
Trump will rule the airwaves.
Stephy will have 10 viewers, Trump will have 25 million.
And the Debate commission looks foolish and partisan and they failed to save Biden.
People will finally get to hear Biden unfiltered.
It ain't going to be pretty.
Still, the majority will be tuning in to hear President Trump.
I just can’t see Biden following through with this. The stress of what’s coming out, and, worse, what HE knows is still hidden and might come out, should have him near a breakdown. He’s so fragile, I can’t see him not being affected by all of this.
Yes. Trump gets all the ratings that night, and the next day, our side releases excerpts and memes of Joe from his sad little ‘rally’. Win win.
People will finally get to hear Biden unfiltered.

And the elephant in the room will be the Hunter Biden emails. One town-hall citizen questioner going off script would be delicious.

It should be fascinating to see how Stephy approaches the subject - he can’t avoid it - with the most incredible ‘kid gloves’ softball treatment of all time.
Tivo shows ABC at 8pm “The Vice President and the People”. NBC shows some low rent show “Connecting...” not sure how to get them to update.
BJ’s wife looked kind of fragile around this time in 2016, too.

ABC will have Biden and puffball questions and NBC will have Trump and loaded questions trying to take him down. People will watch Trump, more fun, more informative, more substantial. Of coarse if you have trouble falling asleep watch Biden, you will be out like a light in 5 minutes.

I think it is much more likely that it will have been rehearsed and that the questioners all have Actors' Equity cards.

Trump should tweet that he would rather debate Harris since we all know they will take biden off his meds 2 weeks after the election if he wins making Harris the president.

I guess NBC wanted to take a share away from ABC; this will be a great opportunity for Trump to publicize the smoking guns about Biden’s corruption on national media! Despite media attempts at censorship, the word now has a fighting chance of getting out to the wider population.
Biden will get one softball question about his son setting up the Ukrainian guy to meet him and he’ll give one quick little reply like, “It doesn’t show up on my calendar”, and that will be it.
I don’t know that Trump will beat him in ratings. After all, who wouldn’t tune in to watch how many gaffes and flubs come from Dementia Joe? It could be a comedy riot!
You know Biden staffers are talking to ABC about this right now, trying to frame the discussion in a way that downplays the issue.
With how fast Biden put a lid on his campaign when this news broke tells me they didn’t expect it was coming. The social media reaction tells me they had to react fast and only had time to use their “blunt” tools (banning, blocking) rather than design more precise tools to massage the messaging.
