Anecdotal evidence and common sense vs. polls (vanity)

Posted on 10/04/2020 10:13:54 AM PDT by BuckeyeGOP

Yesterday my family and I were driving from Columbus to Cincinatti. As we got on I-270, (the outterbelt for Columbus), the traffic was unusually heavy and slow. It didn't take long to see why. A massive Trump road train was in progress. As far as the eyes could see on both sides of the highway were countless cars and trucks flying the American flag and Trump 2020 flags. This went on non stop, both directions, as we traveled 20 miles to our exit. 270 is basically a complete loop about 60 miles that encircles the city. I have never seen a display of political enthusiasm like this before, it had to be hundreds and hundreds of vehicles. I noticed the majority of license plates were registered locally. Columbus is located in Franklin County Ohio, one of the bluest counties in Ohio, and one of only a handful that went Hillary in 2016.

Seeing this, seeing the boat parades everywhere, seeing the massive rallies for Trump and then comparing that to Biden's pathetic appearances and no-show events leaves me wondering how can this be...how can this stuff not reflect in polling? Something doesn't smell right.

On the other hand, if I'm going to be completely honest, when it comes to yard signs, it's a different story. I travel all over the suburbs everyday and the yard signs for Biden out number Trump yard signs by probably 5 to 1. That would be my only anecdotal observation that gives me some pause. There are some things though that might explain this. Ohio State Univ is the largest employer in Columbus so there is no shortage of professors and university govt professional workers. We also have a lot of attorneys and young tech professionals. Columbus is also known as being one of the country's most gay-friendly cities.

But it's not just the massive display of Trump enthusiasm that makes me scratch my head when looking at polls, it's also common sense. I try to put myself in the shoes of the other side and imagine what would motivate middle to upper middle class professionals in suburbs to not only vote Biden, but proudly display a yard sign to show it. I honestly cannot figure it out. It's baffling and seems so obviously self-destructive. It was easy to understand how Obama got elected in 2008. The pushing of hope, an economic meltdown, the first African American president and of course a terrible candidate in McCain. 2012 was the result of a wishy-washy weak candidate on our side in combination with the usual history of how difficult it is to unseat an incumbant. 2016 was a message that we were sick of the establishment and Hillary was everything that represented the swamp.

This time we have a proven leader. A president who never once left the side of the people in favor of the establishment. A true outsider that works everyday to keep his promises for us. Doing all of this while being attacked, maligned, and impeached....for nothing....and from both sides.

I only see one reason why someone who is an otherwise reasonable thinking professional American would vote Biden. Their hatred for Trump on a personal level is so strong they would vote in a piece of paper over him. A hatred so strong they would risk gambling with a socialistic agenda. It's mind-boggling.

History tells us that voting against a candidate is never enough but looking at the polls you would think that it's more than enough.

I believe Trump will win because of what I witnessed on the highway yesterday...the majority of people still love this country more than they hate Trump.

I don’t think people want their homes vandalized.

My observation is the same here in the suburbs around CLE. But...I see many more American flags flying and not on the houses with Biden yard signs either.

I do find it astounding that anyone cannot see Biden is clearly not Presidential material.

Did you hear about the shooting on I-270 yesterday?

I was on 270 for about 10 miles during the Trump parade. Blew me away. There were people standing on overpasses with flags. I honked at all.

In our area you would be lucky if your stuff was just stolen or vandalized. You could easily be attacked, your car set on fire or your house burned down. Leftists feel totally justified taking any action that they want.

:: what would motivate middle to upper middle class professionals in suburbs to...vote Biden ::
[my edit]

Thought process:
I make pretty good coin and have a 401 K.
My CEO is a filthy rich capitalist that doesn’t pay enough taxes and Biden will force him to pay taxes.
My paycheck won’t change, however.

Retribution.

Not wanting your home vandalized is Definitely a reason many do not have Trump signs up.

There are a Lot on Staten Island’s north shore. But the vast majority of folks here are for Trump so it’s pretty ok.

Plus the people here are crazy and just don’t care :)

I care. Don’t need a broken window for no reason.

As for all of the biden signs...any time a university is anywhere near...so many people work in one way or another for said university and I would imagine they are all very pro biden.

The professionals angle..lawyers, doctors..etc..my family has a bunch of those and all Ardently pro Trump.

In the end, it’s fun to play around and discuss these sort of things...but we know in our hearts the final vote is the true story.

Though I have to say Trump’s rallies are like Beatles concerts were in the 60s. And THAT is very unusual.

1) The anti-Trump passion is highest among upper-income progressives, and based on the description you gave (lawyers, professors) one would expect a lot of signs.

2) A lot of Trump supporters fear putting signs out in upper class and affluent neighborhoods b/c of social pressure.

3) I have found that Trump signs have been replaced by American flags/blue line flags/bunting, etc. in suburban areas. I wonder if you drive around these areas that don’t have a lot of Trump signs if they have flags, etc. hanging outside.

“filthy rich capitalist“

The alternative is communism. Anyone who values private property is a capitalist.

Please don’t confuse the term with greedy b.

Look up Henry Ford and what he did for his autoworkers. He was not a greedy b. He was a capitalist successful employer and provider of jobs for many. He had a good wife, as well, a common motif among good contributors to society.

On the subject, people who vote democrat are not thinking and they are not thinking about how to make the country good they wasn’t someone in charge that won’t make them feel guilty about their depraved amoral lives. There are 50+ million abortions since 1973 in this country. That’s about 100 million parents. If abortion becomes unacceptable again -when it does- these people then have to deal with their consciences

For Biden to be polling anywhere near Trump, there are a lot of secretive Biden supporters

That signifies shame to me.

This was my experience 2016. I called my sister two days before the election and expressed doubt for the first time. The polls seemed insurmountable. But the next day I drove through the hinterlands of Pennsylvania and must have counted 200 Trump signs, and zero Clinton signs. .

I am for Trump 100%, but there's no way I'm going to put up a yard sign or bumper sticker. I don't want my house/car getting vandalized.

As for the polls, well, we get told by the MSM 24/7 that Trump is a racist. What is a Trump supporter going to do if they get a phone call from an MSM poll?

Question is: will the number of silent Trump voters out there be able to overcome the cheat-by-mail numbers?

Seeing this in southeast PA. More Biden/Harris signs than Trump/Pence signs. Also lots of American flags, not at the same houses.

I live in a fairly red area. Even so, there's usually a handful of 'rat yard signs and you'll see a few 'rat bumper stickers etc. in any given election cycle.

Not so this year. Even though all the political violence is directed at supporters of President Trump - ie. 'rats have basically nothing to fear - there are *no* Biden signs/stickers anywhere. None.

Oddly enough, even with the threat of violence and vandalism so prevalent from the left there are lots of Trump signs, American flags, etc. displayed.

I briefly left Los Angeles county yesterday and saw a huge boat parade for trump in Ventura county. All kinds of water vehicles along with cars and trucks and golf carts and pedestrians of bridges, Trump 2020 and USA flags flying, cars honking and waving.

Felt like Dorothy. “Toto, I’ve a feeling we aren’t in LA any more”

In upper middle class Belly of the Beast (Los Angeles) , there are zero yard signs. Have not seen one. Very few bumper stickers. Most for candidates no longer in the race.

I’ve never been polled by phone, email or personally.

That said, if I’m ever polled, I’ll enthusiastically tell them: Biden, of course, what a question!

The reason is very statistically simple, when I truly vote, this will be a double whammy! A vote for Biden that turns to a vote for Trump is doubled for Trump.

I believe a lot of people who’re doing this are causing a crushing election result.

0b0z0 the bastard, his spawned media faggots and degenerate ‘American’ institutions’ actions are so criminally insane that makes me consider ANY compromise with them is nothing but treasonous.
