Taken out of context, he looks utterly befuddled. I’d like to see it in context, though.... not because I’d ever defend him, but because I’d like to ascertain exactly where his mental state is.

His mental state is not good.
I’m watching a portion of this thing, not the section quoted, but we are making a mistake portraying him as in hardcore dementia. He’s not sharp, that’s obvious, but he’s nowhere near as bad as we tend to portray him.
It’s not as bad as portrayed. We may be falling into a trap.
People are always clipping videos way too close. The clip could have been the punchline to a joke or the answer to an off the wall question. One can never be sure that the statement is addled unless one can be sure of the context. As we say in Biblical hermeneutics class, context is king!

I think we gotta be careful. The debates could cause a low-expectation bounce for Biden.
A trap like ropa dope? I’m sensing this Harris Administration is the real deal sooner rather than later. Not to win.
They pulled this same thing with Hillary - to try to lower expectations before the debate so she could exceed them. Many of us were sure she was at Death’s Door - but she did fine in the debates...and here she is, four years later, still spouting off nasty rhetoric. :)

I agree. The “debates” will consist of questions he’s answered hundreds of times. We can’t count on the debates as our silver bullet.
Dems want to lower expectations for the debate. Now all Biden has to do is show up and it will be above par for him.
