He's only doing this because he discovered Trump has a plan to thwart the fraud in mail-in voting or because the Left has a plan for, shall we say, "unrest" or some event to occur in schools.
I'd like to think that it is because soccer moms are making it clear they want schools to open, but that does not comport with the sentiment of the soccer moms in my area.

America wants schools to re-open, that’s my contention. For the Democrats to be perceived as the ones who kept schools closed will kill their chances, all...from Rep. to Senator to President, to win an election.

All the Democrats, without exception, are saying we need to reopen the schools and then toss in the caveat that it needs to be done safely. “Safely” for them means following CDC guidelines, and “safely” for them will require tens of billions of dollars to be given to the school districts to make safety changes. So this comment by Schumer is nothing new. It’s just another plug for their spending plan held up in the Senate.

The NY Dems are all reading the same poll. Cuomo also came out for opening the schools. Probably they are being hammered by their voters who need the schools to watch their kids so they can work. As much as the NY Dems would like to hammer Trump for pushing reopening should one kid get sick in school, their voters have cornered the slimy Dems telling them they agree with Trump
