Perhaps the mayor of Chicago thought it would be a good idea to remove the statue of Christopher Columbus in the week hours of the morning and that the controversy would quietly go away. Well, she obviously thought wrong as you can see in this video. Italian Americans of the city have declared political war on the local liberals who sanctioned this statue removal. Even greater than the threat at the ballot box was the promise to dig very deeply into the financial activities of those targeted. And in Chicago, how hard can it be to find evidence of corruption?
I don’t know if there are enough of them any more. They might need some Irish to help out.

Never good to mess with pissed off Italians
Even despite his involvement in enslavement of the natives (slavery being widespread in that day and age), Columbus is still worth honoring for his courage in heading into the unknown western ocean, leading to European discovery of the New World, which is an important historical milestone in history.

If I remember correctly, Columbus took back a few natives from Hispaniola on his first voyage to be able to show he had really reached a new land, but then on the second voyage captured hundreds of natives to be slaves, but Queen Isabella freed them. Unfortunately some of them had already died.
