Until very recently, Justin Kucera was a social studies teacher and baseball coach at Walled Lake Western High School in Walled Lake, Michigan.
Kucera recently made the following tweet: (original, archive)
The text of Kucera’s tweet states:
Im done being silent.
@realDonaldTrump is our president
Dont @ me
For this, Kucera was fired.
One wonders if the failing systems in bad communities are doing exactly what they are built to do - fail. People without skills of living will always require government and will reward those who offer the most assistance. Its hard to know what specifically leads to high education achievement, but its safe to say those trapped in failing systems will never have an opportunity improve themselves without a chance to escape the failure. They deserve a chance to try to excel. With virtual education, the excuse of disruptive behavior is eliminated, the pressures of belonging to a group of marauders is eliminated, the virtual classroom may be a powerful equalizer.
OMW! Such a hateful tweet. /sarc
Try 1913, the year both the NEA and the federal income tax were both created.
Lots of actual American schools in states not turning into shiteholes that are looking for teachers.
Since when is saying, Donald Trump is our President political speech?
Do you happen to have a different president?
Seriously? No I don’t have a different President...
The article did not put in the entire tweet history. He retweeted a Trump tweet, tweeted he would “Be silent no more” and “@RealDonaldTrump is our President” — to me I can see how they could be interpreted as political. He was stating more than the mere fact that Trump is our President.
And several articles state that Mr. Kucera said he was fired for a pro-Trump tweet...Is not showing support for a President political...Sort of like a bumper sticker??

I don’t think it is right what the Administration did to him; however, I think it can be interpreted as political..
And my main point to the post is that regardless, I believe political speech should be protected—I am not at all certain that it is given the firings out in Silicon Valley.
All it takes is his supporters to show up at the school board meeting and it gets fixed.
But NOOOOOO, cant show up at a school board meeting huh?
Do they still have the PTA meetings?

Re: Culture
Perhaps the godless and Marxist-run schools created the rotten community.
Mine too!
I understand a lot of freshly graduated teachers go to the boondocks to get the X years of experience they need to go and work at a good school. I can’t blame them, but it can’t be good for these rural schools to serve as revolving door prooving grounds for kids just out of grad school.
At my kid’s High School it seemed the best teachers were the younger ones that were still excited about teaching. Many of the older ones would tell them to turn on their laptops and work the next assignment. Then browse the Home Shopping Network. (Tenured).
All of their teachers in grade school, young and old, were pretty good.
Michigan is a screwed up State.........
There are additional restrictions under the 1st and 14th Amendment when the employer is a state actor. Essentially, teachers have free speech protections for political statements made outside working hours.
This doesn’t pass the smell test. There’s more to this story that we’re not hearing.
“Michigan is a screwed up State...”
Yup. D’rats win MI elections from the rust belt poor & welfare mommies, unionists (auto and teachers), college youts and retirees.
The conservatives & patriots there are so damned fed up. And well armed.
Rumor is — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will allow the Michigan Renaissance Festival to happen IF she gets to be Queen Elizabeth every weekend, gets to boss everyone around and everybody must bow to her.
Other Walled Lake teachers have expressed their political views without any repercussions. Paulette Loe, a now-retired Walled Lake Western teacher, encouraged students to read an article from the Atlantic about "how to beat Trump" while still employed. Nicole Estes, a kindergarten teacher in the district, called Trump a "sociopath" and a "narcissist" on Facebook in 2016 and is still employed at Keith Elementary School. Neither Loe nor Estes responded to requests for comment.
It’s so nice that patriots don’t dox, ain’t it?
