“The university ended the employment of Dr. Neal-Boylan on June 19 after 10 months in her role as dean of the Solomont School of Nursing. As with all such decisions, it was made in the best interest of the university and its students.”

The cancel culture that is rampant on American college campuses right now has just claimed another victim. A nursing dean at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, has reportedly been fired after saying in an email that “everyone’s life matters.”

Where does this end?

“It’s so hot I can’t breathe.”

In what way is that racially insensitive?

Stop it

You mean stop breathing? Breathing is a white privilege?

The Massachusetts “Standards of Conduct for Nurses” expressly prohibits discrimination and requires nurses to use their skills, knowledge and abilities to treat all patients under their care. Any nurse who would apply different standards of care on the basis of race would not be fit to be a nurse, or teach nursing. This is a clear violation of employment law, and as a State funded university this is also a clear violation of the Professor’s Constitutional rights.

(13) Discrimination. A nurse licensed by the Board shall not withhold or deny nursing care based on age, ancestry, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, diagnosis, or mental or physical disability.

“She should look the president/chancellor of the university in the eyes and ask if their life doesn’t matter....”

Are you kidding? That would certainly be construed as a death threat.

Now, about that honest dialogue everyone thinks we should have.

When black self-appointed 'leaders' tell us we need a 'conversation on race', what they mean is we should sit down, shut up, and listen to them. That's not gonna happen...

She should sue for racial discrimination, citing analogous statements by black employees that did not lead to termination. Treat them with a dose of their own medicine.

The current BLM madness is being used by the Universities to clean out all their remaining non hard left staff and probably not a few students. The purification process will continue past the current unpleasantness on its own momentum as the leftists maneuver for ever purer purity and, of course, personal power and position, as much for pre-empting their own dismissals as for eliminating anyone perceived as being to the right of themselves. It is how communism works in real life. The pigs start killing each other when all the other animals are enslaved.

As nurses, they are required by law and by oath that all lives matter. I would take that approach.

Any indication that some are more deserving of care over others leads to medical malpractice.

It infuriates me that saying “all lives matter” is considered hate speech or a way of telling people to sit down and shut up.

For MANY people, it’s a statement of fact and the basis of the way we live our lives and conduct ourselves.

I’ve been a nurse for darned near 40 years and these standards of conduct you mention are pretty universal. I’ve dealt with patients of all races, sizes, shapes, socioeconomic status, so on an so forth, and have always tried to treat each one as an individual, doing my best for them, from the unborn to those at the end of their lives. There have been patients I didn’t like and didn’t want to take care of, but that had to do with that person’s attitudes and nothing to do with their skin color or other superficial aspects.

My very first patient in my first nursing school was an elderly Black gentleman at a VA hospital. I remember that because I was absolutely terrified, as was my partner that day (Black herself). We were convinced that he was as fragile as glass and that anything we did might kill him! Nobody cared about anyone’s skin color. I didn’t care then, don’t care now, and haven’t cared any time in between. Each person is an individual and treated as such.

I take “Black Lives Matter” as an insult-to me and to many people like me, in nursing and other professions, because all lives really DO matter.

So, what are they going to do in military suicide counseling? The motto was always that all soldiers’ lives matter. Are they going to stop that and make second class soldiers too?

This sht is insane and not legal at all.

To be sure, this stupid illegal crap was always right beneath the surface with affirmative action or labor laws against discrimination or criminal prosecutions which never took up crimes against white males. It happened in many divorce court bias rulings too. The violation of civil rights have been completely ignored by the supreme court ever since Roe V Wade replaced the general topic.

So now they are just showing overtly who is in charge and have decided to take back all the marbles and toys from perceived white people (which include black conservatives), which they considered up to this point as a privilege they let us have but which now they are taking back.

Contempt for TRUTH is the evil most fundamental to the decadence of Western Civilisation.

Obviously it is TRUTH that all lives matter.

“Where does this end?”

You and I have a lot to say about when and where it ends.

But so far neither one of us is saying or doing much about it. They’re picking us off one at a time and we’re just watching - because it isn’t us... yet.

She should look the president/chancellor of the university in the eyes and ask if their life doesn’t matter....<<

Won’t work. This has NOTHING to do with the rational. Do a Venn diagram, BLM and ALM. One is inclusive and the other exclusive. The response to pointing this out is: You just don’t get it.

Actually you do and they don’t. But irrationality is encouraged, not discouraged. Don’t lose your mind over it. It is like arguing over religion or politics at Thanksgiving.

As for the dean, the firing will stand as they have a contract that probably allows it. They do not have “just cause” like someone in civil service. The University may have to pay off the contract, depending on the provisions, but are probably are within their rights for a dean to be let go for almost any reason.

Not too big a step from being fired for saying X to being fired for refusing to say Y. I predict that that’s next.

Excellent point! High probability prediction.
