Going to Nashville TN (first time staying in TN) on a business conference/personal vacation. Any must see tourist items? Restaurants? Tips, Avoidances?
Going there 9/22 and leaving for home on 9/29. The biz part is pretty much scheduled with it's own agenda on Wed-Fri. After that it is free wheeling.
Loveless Cafe for breakfast.
Opryland? Is that open?
Make the trip to Memphis and visit Graceland.
Hot chicken. Several choices, I like Hattie Bs.
The Opryland Hotel.
Hope the riots are over by then.
If you’re into ancient history, check out the full-size replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park.
Visiting Franklin, just south of Nashville is nice. The Carter House/Battle of Franklin site is worthwhile. Also, visit Belle Meade Mansion, Percy Warner Park, The Parthenon’s Athena statue, and take a walk around Lower Broadway and Church Street to the River.
We did a showboat dinner ride years ago. Don’t know if that’s still a thing, but it was fun. Might have been the General Jackson showboat.
Can’t tell you any places, but it is run by Dems. Not much really open because of Covid, take your mask you’ll need it. Gun too if you can.
The Country Hall of Fame Museum is great and there’s a small Johnny Cash Museum and restaurant that were enjoyable. Nudie’s (not a strip club; named after the C&W suit maker). It’s a nice town and a lot of fun. Still clean. Stubbs record store. Bluebird has a crazy wait time/line so I didn’t visit that.
New Orleans and Austin are homeless/danger zones these days. Nashville is better.
There’s a Parthenon-style building I visited that was a replica of the Greek one. Was okay to visit.
Enjoy!
Visited there twice in the mid ‘90s. Franklin, just south on I-65, was great to just to stroll through and see antique stores and I believe that there is a Civil War battlefield historic site there as well.
The old part of downtown is/was interesting, but haven’t been there in years.
Keep an eye on the panhandlers.
Go to the Aquarium restaurant. Amazing. Hope they are open.
“....The Opryland Hotel....”
Yep. That’d be my choice too, that atrium is a neat place to go visit.
Belle Meade plantation is gorgeous — but beware any of the woke scum who may have decided it needs “protesting.”
A son sent me pics of that when he visited...awesome.
Believe you are referring to Ernest Tubb’s Record Shop and that was on the main drag downtown near Tootsie’s. And they had a location on Demonbreun (in the Music Row area) back in the mid 90s.
I took a look at Google Streetview and saw that a lot of the touristy stuff in the Music Row area that I saw is now long gone (Barbara Mandrell museum and gift shop, the Randy Travis one, Hank Williams Sr and Jr, Conway Twitty, etc).
The Parthenon replica is something I would not mind seeing.
