Anthony Fauci: Americans ‘Don’t Believe Science and They Don’t Believe Authority’
Breitbart ^ | June 18, 2020 | Joshua Caplan

Posted on 06/18/2020 4:49:17 PM PDT by CheshireTheCat

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, served up harsh criticism of Americans on Thursday, asserting that the country suffers from what he described as an “anti-science bias” problem.

“One of the problems we face in the United States is that unfortunately, there is a combination of an anti-science bias that people are — for reasons that sometimes are, you know, inconceivable and not understandable — they just don’t believe science and they don’t believe authority,” Fauci told the Learning Curve podcast, which is produced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“So when they see someone up in the White House, which has an air of authority to it, who’s talking about science, that there are some people who just don’t believe that — and that’s unfortunate because, you know, science is truth,” Fauci continued, referring to the White House coronavirus task force’s once-daily briefings....

How about your friends in the street and DNC, Fauci? Is your brand of “science” and your methods of applying it during a pandemic just a convenient rope to tie down the law-abiding and productive? Because your friends in the street and their mayors and governors don’t think it applies to them.

Fauci is a phoney when it comes to “science.” He ha been wrong about most everything, and doesn’t learn from his mistakes. Fauci’s version of science is like the cargo cult version of a C47. It looks like an airplane from a distance but up close you see it is a primitive copy.

I have absolutely no problem with science. I have been a science nerd all my life.

I do have a problem with people using pseudo-science like Global Warming theories to mess with my life and my country.

I see the government response to COVID-19 as being designed on pseudo-science much like Global Warming. That is it is based on computer models.

Computer models are only as good as the assumptions that they are designed around and the data fed in to them.

Global Warming models have a long history of failure and the COVID-19 model has followed that same path of failure to predict accurately what happened.

The COVID-19 model was rushed into use with no peer review of its design or of the data fed into it (that I have heard of).

Decisions were made by governments worldwide based on a single computer model. Those decisions affected the lives of billions of people for the worse. Trillions of dollars have been wasted and thousands of lives have probably been lost to suicides and drug use during the loss of jobs.

Fauci may say that millions of lives were saved. He would say that with no science to back him up.

I don’t want to overestimate the public, but science teaches us to be skeptical of “authority”, and examine the evidence. Scientific understanding and explanations will always evolve so long as new information, discoveries, and experimental results arise and are tested. Fauci doesn’t know this?

The problem is that their “science” is nothing more than a bit of knowledge in a specific field, watered down with political agenda and fortified with government authority, with a rather large spritz of humanistic secular philosophy as a kicker.

Observational science, not so much.

16 Mar: NYT: White House Takes New Line After Dire Report on Death Toll
Federal guidelines warned against gatherings of more than 10 people as a London report predicted high fatalities in the U.S. without drastic action.
By Sheri Fink; Michael D. Shear contributed reporting
Sweeping new federal recommendations announced on Monday for Americans to sharply limit their activities appeared to draw on a dire scientific report warning that, without action by the government and individuals to slow the spread of coronavirus and suppress new cases, 2.2 million people in the United States could die.

To curb the epidemic, there would need to be drastic restrictions on work, school and social gatherings for periods of time until a vaccine was available, which could take 18 months, according to the report, compiled by British researchers...
Asked at a news conference with President Trump about what had led to the change in thinking by a White House task force, Dr. Deborah Birx, one of the task force leaders, said new information had come from a model developed in Britain...

Dr. Birx’s description of the findings was consistent with those in the report, released on Monday by an epidemic modeling group at Imperial College London. The lead author of the study, Neil Ferguson, an epidemiology professor, said in an interview that his group had shared their projections with the White House task force about a week ago and that an early copy of the report was sent over the weekend.
The group has also shared its fatality estimates with the C.D.C., Dr. Ferguson said, including that eight to nine percent of people in the most vulnerable age group, 80 and older, could die if infected...

The report, which was not released in a peer-reviewed journal but was authored by 30 scientists on behalf of Imperial College’s coronavirus response team, simulated the role of public health measures aimed at reducing contact...

Dr. Ferguson said the potential health impacts were comparable to the devastating 1918 influenza outbreak, and would “kind of overwhelm health system capacity in any developed country, including the United States,” unless measures to reduce the spread of the virus were taken...

The study’s authors said their research made it clear that people in the United States might be advised to continue with draconian restrictions on their daily lives for far longer than Mr. Trump and the task force indicated on Monday.
“The major challenge of suppression,” the British scientists concluded, is the length of time that intensive interventions would be needed, given that “we predict that transmission will quickly rebound if interventions are relaxed.”...

[People would have believed you Fauci, except you became a little bitch. Now you could cure cancer and neither side would believe you.]

Fauci might or might not believe in science, but he certainly doesn’t believe in authority. Trump is Fauci’s boss, yet Fauci keeps speaking out of turn.
