Mrs. Butterworth’s to Undergo ‘Complete Brand and Packaging Review’
Breitbart ^ | June 17, 2020 | Joshua Caplan

The pancake syrup brand Mrs. Butterworth’s — known for its matronly woman-shaped bottle — will undergo a “complete brand and packaging review,” a spokesperson for Conagra Brands said Wednesday. The development comes after parent companies for Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s announced that the two product lines will see branding changes of their own.

“We understand that our actions help play an important role in eliminating racial bias and as a result, we have begun a complete brand and packaging review on Mrs. Butterworth’s,” Conagra Brands Communications Manager Dan Skinner told Forbes. The company added:

We stand in solidarity with our Black and Brown communities and we can see that our packaging may be interpreted in a way that is wholly inconsistent with our values. It’s heartbreaking and unacceptable that racism and racial injustices exist around the world. We will be part of the solution. Let’s work together to progress toward change.

Ah, what would play an important role in eliminating racial bias would be if black folks stopped rioting, but you are a fat and stupid corporation so you can't say that....

Is this about body shaming?
Can’t they just change her name to “Ms Butterworth” and put her in yoga pants?

Once again, I’m not able to protest the manufacturer of these products by boycotting them because I don’t buy their crappy pancake mix or syrup and never have. I probably don’t buy anything they manufacture because I rarely buy prefab foods.

Instead of using that disgusting HFCS laden syrup, just get some Maple Syrup. Good stuff, nothing added.

Make the bottle into an hourglass figure and I might buy it just for that!

How many products have had pictures or cartoons or whatever as an IDENTIFYING part of their packaging because there are so many persons in the country who CAN NOT READ ENGLISH???

Young kids——illegal invaders——etc.

IS Mrs. Butterworth black? News to me.

Me, too. I never thought of her as black. They used to do a commercial in which the Mrs Butterworth bottle was animated and she spoke. She had an accent that bordered on British. I don't think it was British, but it was refined and proper.

That will make unopened butterworth shaped bottles much more valuable.

Yep, it’s the truth, and I couldn’t care any less.

I wouldn’t use that high-fructose corn syrup-laden goop on my pancakes or waffles anyway. One-hundred percent pure maple syrup for me and mine, thankyouverymuch.

And for Uncle Ben, fuhgedaboutim. I use rice I get in 35-pound bags at Costco.

These companies that are changing things around are just doing it to look good so they sell more stuff...which is just plain ol’ CAPITALISM. It may backfire on them spectacularly, but you (almost) can’t fault them for trying to make a buck.

I seem to recall from the old black and white commercials that she sometimes was given a British accent voice. I took her to be a white English woman.

Instead of displaying them living in traditional African situations, many shows (particularly BBC) displays black people living in England in the 1500’s as lords or knights.

This is why I avoid recent British programs. They did the two cycles of Shakespeare's history plays with black guys playing white historical characters, and a black Queen Margaret. I think it is legally mandated in Britain now.

Yeah - do a search on YouTube. She’s never been portrayed as a black or brown woman.

She’s in a BROWN bottle and these stupid twits only see color!
