...Or if not fired, at least publicly denounced by the law school. Student groups plan to demand the law school critically examine the views of the people they employ as professors of the law.
There is an effort underway to get me fired at Cornell Law School, where Ive worked since November 2007, or if not fired, at least denounced publicly by the school.
Ever since I started Legal Insurrection in October 2008, its been an awkward relationship given the overwhelmingly liberal faculty and atmosphere. Living as a conservative on a liberal campus is like being the mouse waiting for the cat to pounce.
For over 12 years, the Cornell cat did not pounce. Though there were frequent and aggressive attempts by outsiders to get me fired, including threats and harassment, it always came from off campus.
I made great efforts to keep this website separate from my work. I did not write about Cornell that frequently, and rarely about the law school itself. Nonetheless, the website and my political views were the elephant in every room, because the website is widely read, particularly by non-liberal students.Over the years, many students approached me privately and behind closed doors to express gratitude that someone was able to speak up, because they remained politically silent out of fear of social ostracization with the related possible career damage from falsely being accused of one of the -ists or -isms.

“I feel many people will want the insanity to end by not voting for Trump and appeasing the Democrats”
No, that horse left the barn when they started looting and rioting. There is nothing that turns the “silent majority” away from the Democrats faster than when they engage in open lawlessness like that. Well, Hillary Clinton opening her mouth might do it faster...
If he is a lawyer he is better equipped for this than most of us.
Now if he is a BLACK lawyer, well - he is Uncle Tom?
Just askin’ for a fren’.
So is there any push back? Not if peoples jobs are threatened. The Republican politicians have to take action. If they dont push back, I feel many people will want the insanity to end by not voting for Trump and appeasing the Democrats, who are causing most of the problems. People need leadership or they will get disheartened. This is extraordinary times not a time to think let the Democrats/radicals hang themselves with their own rope. Silence is not a good tactic as the country gets worse.
Exactly. Where are our elected politicans who swore an oath to defend the Constition? AWOL. Never forgive, never forget.
This story should be on Trump’so Twitter feed...
Its a slow creep ...
At this point, its a runaway train.
How would that work, exactly?
Quote of the day!
1000 percent correct. Our side is playing by The Rules and the other side has no rules and are completely ruthless and evil. Time to take up the sword and shield of the Crusaders because we are truly in the fight of our species between Good and Evil.
Well, you should have expected that.
People would give in for a fake peace.
Yup.
“Exactly. Where are our elected politicans who swore an oath to defend the Constition? AWOL.”
The other side doesn’t wait for THEIR politicians to give them their marching order, their grassroots are the ones that give the marching order to the politicians.
We used to do that once. Anyone remember the Tea Parties?
What happened to that fighting spirit?
This war is going to be fought in the trenches by militias, so far only one side is fighting.
Yeah, business complies just like in Nazi Germany when the SS and Brown Shirts looted and burnt Jewish stores. There has to be a stop to it.
Well, so much for being an American. The business people have no loyalty except to making money. They don’t think long term and don’t worry thinking that they can just pick up and move. It didn’t work that way in Nazi Germany when the government cooped business and the Brown Shirts and SS looted and burnt Jewish stores.
Right on!
I hope so, but it may go the opposite way when people see the Republicans as do nothings while America burns. People can lose their faith too once the public and corporations get behind something like BLM.
“it may go the opposite way when people see the Republicans as do nothings while America burn”
Maybe, if there was an alternative for them to vote for that might actually do something instead, but that’s not the Democrats.
#BLMbntb — Black Lives Matter but not to blacks.
Because they always and purposely ignore:
Abortion - millions of innocent black babies murdered in the womb.
Big city black thugs - murder hundreds and hundreds of other blacks yearly.
Drugs - overdoses kill hundreds and hundreds of blacks yearly.
Poor health - obesity, diabetes, heart disease, smoking and alcohol abuse kills thousands of blacks yearly.
Illegitimacy - thousands and thousands of fatherless black children.
Illiteracy - thousands and thousands of black youths that cannot read or do math.
Okay, well I just wrote to the Dean of the Law School (eduardo.penalver@cornell.edu) to congratulate him on standing firm for academic freedom. I think it’s better to bolster than to scold or rant.
