Judging from the line outside this Long Island gun store, the ‘you don’t need a firearm to protect yourself just call the police’ narrative is in trouble

In the last several days we’ve seen many people on social media say that they’ve called the police and have been told the response either wouldn’t happen or would take a long time. It seems now more than ever that Americans increasingly aren’t relying on the police to protect them and are taking things into their own hands. Here’s just one example:

And the guy in the picture is STILL wearing a mask outdoors. Seems like the hopes that they’ll not vote dem next election are not well founded.

The guy is in a line. The line is at a gun shop. Long Island has about 80,000 cases of COVID. Suffolk County voted for Trump.

I think your post is not well founded.

Wait’ll they find out they can't just walk out with one...

But the commentators and Stewart said it was easier than getting a drivers license. It's even easier than getting a puppy. (CNN article)

Building your own firearm isn’t that hard to do and if the kit is in stock, you would have it in a few days and a few hours later it would be finished. You need a little patience and some basic skills and tools to complete the tasks, but they are pretty easy.

This is where I bought my Kits and have No Complaints!!

when you wait until AFTER the riots start to try to buy a firearm, that’s called NOT being prepared when the shite hits the fan, right?

” OTOH, Illinois is “gun free” and is possibly the most UNsafe.”

Actually, it’s better than you think. Illinois’ gun laws are more 2A friendly than some other states: For instance, its CCW is SHALL issue rather than the more restrictive MAY issue. Up until last year there was only a 24 hour waiting period for the purchase of a long gun (though now it is 72 hours, which is the same for a hand gun).

Unless you are buying a handgun even in NY you can walk out with it. As long as the computer link is working it takes about 15 minutes. Of course in NY you are not leaving with an AR 15 or an AK or anyting with a10+ round mag. But that looks like TNT Gunnery in the pic so you could leave with a 5 round mag mini 14 or a reconditioned M1. More likely these are going shotgun or maybe lever action.

Yep. A lot of people say they would “blow somebody away” but actually pulling the trigger and possibly taking a life? Most people would freeze. Myself included probably. I CCW and have home defense. It would AT LEAST take someone breaking into my home or shooting at me first and then i hope I would do the right thing the right way.

Biden’s fanning the flames of hate again... guess he wants the city to burn. How charming. Get guns and shoot if the tugs try to burn you out... YOU won’t get a second chance.

I don’t want to ‘come together with black thugs and white antifa... I would shoot them first. There’s not going to be peace...

I have a relative in Nashville who is standing in line at a gun store right now. Says it is a surreal environment. People are arming up.

Damn, Tennessee is gun friendly state and pretty well armed-up already. what took your relatives so long? Sadly, I'm a big believer that without solid training, any firearm may end up in someone else's hands.

To buy a shotgun in NJ I had to get three notarized letters from people (non family) declaring how long they knew me and stating that I wasn't a danger to anyone to their knowledge. And fill out a lengthy form. And wait a couple of weeks to get approved. And wait another week for an appointment to get a permit to own a firearm. And get fingerprinted.

Other than that though it was really fast and easy.

Nope. Never killed anybody. I certainly hope and pray that I never have to. That said, I do stand ready for whatever may come. The training and practice that I got in my days in the Corps have stayed with me and I continue to practice and train to this day.

And I am glad that you are here so we can have this conversation. Thank you.

Bought a Galil Ace Ar15 Pistol with a 60 shot drum magazine today. Dead ringer for a Tommy Gun.

Can they walk out with long guns that conform to Fredo Jr’s (Andrew Cuomo’s) Safe Act—I thought that outside of NYC, no permits or waiting periods were required for long guns.

Each new gun owner equals a vote for Trump this November. If he/she/it is married, each new gun might equal 2 votes for Trump this November.

“...Killing someone is a line I would hope no one would have to cross, because everything changes after that....”
Very good post and so very true.
Many years ago, a young married couple without kids, lived in a NE state that was terribly anti-gun. He was off on an overnight business trip and she was home by herself. Sometime after to 10pm news that she was watching, some feral animal, hopped up on PCP, started kicking the door in. She pushed the couch up against the door trying to buy some time as she was frantically trying to call 911 (this was before cell phones). The perp finally managed to get the door down, she fled to the bedroom and locked the bedroom door. Once in there, she remembered her husband kept a loaded 12 gauge under the bed and managed to retrieve it. He had shown her many times how to take the safety off, etc., but she was just never concerned enough to really ever worry about it. The perp kicked the bedroom door in and when he did, she killed him with practically a point blank blast of 12 Ga 00 Buckshot straight to the chest. Because the perp was on drugs and totally unarmed, the state saw fit to stupidly pressed charges. Long story short, she finally got off. They immediately moved to a gun-friendly state, but she was never the same after that. She was so traumatized and physiologically destroyed, even after moving far away, that they could no longer keep their marriage together. It was that bad.
Yeah. It definitely changes a person for the rest of their life...and not for the better. And not only that person, but their loved ones immediately around them.

FYI:

I stopped by the local FFL to pick up a gun I had ordered and application was approved, as expected. But I was surprised to learn the application wasn’t processed by the FBI so I can’t get my gun right away. I have to wait for the FFL to be called and then they in turn call me. I was told this could take several days. Apparently there is a fail-safe rule. If the FFL hasn’t been called in 5 days, the gun is mine to pickup.

I have bought guns before through this FFL and this is the first time I’ve had to wait.
