Something like 60k people, mostly women, were executed for suspected witchcraft in what would become Germany within a 200-year span of time. I'm sure most were innocent and were accused because someone did not like them, was jealous of them, or was tortured into accusing the local strange schizophrenic older lady.

Germany's witch burnings were much, much greater than those of other European nations. I often wonder what the relationship between this and the Holocaust might be.

“I’m sure most were innocent..”

So you aren’t POSITIVE they were innocent?

Not the last time governments pretended things to be true that aren’t true that resulted in really bad things happening. Others: slavery, holocaust, abortion, pervert marriage.

“60k people...executed for suspected witchcraft...I’m sure most were innocent”

So, you think that some of them were “real witches”?

That’s a stretch to equate something from the 1700’s to the Holocaust

I’m no defender of the Protestant heretics who ascribed supernatural powers to witches. But 60,000 in Germany is an exaggeration. Wikipedia cites 50,000 throughout all of Europe, and their sources suggest fewer still. Its sources are all very modern, and none very scholarly seeming. “Ronald Hutton,” for instance, wrote in “The Pomegranete, the International Journal of Pagan Studies, “ in an article subtitled, “A Personal View.” Even such sources (e as that seem to point to 17,000 German cases, extrapolated from 8,000 known cases, or 12,000 known cases throughout the Western world. (republished at http://www.summerlands.com/crossroads/remembrance/current.htm )

Hutton acknowledges that the well-recorded witch trials of the North were much larger and more numerous than the “small” trials of the South, but still references an estimate several times larger than the recorded trials of the North.

With "eye of Newt" being a main witch potion ingredient some people are happy those days are over.

There's one more German witch to put to the torch.

” I’m sure most were innocent and were accused because someone did not like them”

Most of them? You think some might have been witches after all?

Looks like nobody here is aware that witchcraft and abortion overlapped heavily in the pre-modern world.

Might pick up Kingdom of the Cults and Kingdom of the Occult by Walter Martin.

God exists.
Elect Angels exist.
Fallen angels exist.
Evil Spirits exist.
Demons exist.

God created Humanity.
We were instructed not to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, lest we surely die (a state of existence involving separation).

Every human now has the knowledge of good and evil.
Good & Evil is confused with sin (disobedience of God’s Plan). When we perform human good separate from God, we sin. Many good works are sinful. Many evil works are sinful.

Re: witchcraft, we are to condemn sorcery and witchcraft, i.e appealing to the spiritual domain of fallen angels and evil spirits to perform our bidding.

If one believes Masons exist, then be aware sorcery and witchcraft also exists. Both will attempt to remain occultic.

To those who neither know God nor the occult, they simply blend in as worldly do-gooders. Similar to witches. (If not the same,)

IMHO, we have our hands full simply remaining in fellowship with God, through faith in Christ, overcoming how our souls are so scarred from worldly and fleshly temptations, without having to also have direct conflict with the angelic domain.

Those who seek the power of fallen angels, evil spirits, and anything spiritual outside of faith in Christ or God’s Plan, simply bring more cursings upon the rest of humanity. They are to be removed from society, if not simply sentenced to capital punishment and executed.

Be careful of those who ignore the spiritual domain outside of Christ or the Holy Spirit. Those who seek to cause you harm will hide in their midst, and will obfuscate the spiritual domain in an attempt to gain more power for themselves.
