The Trump administration stunned Democrat lawmakers and immigration advocacy groups Wednesday, announcing it will waive federal contracting laws to greatly speed up construction of a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Department of Homeland Security said waiving procurement regulations will allow 377 miles of new wall to be built far more quickly in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The 10 waived laws include requirements for having open competition, justifying selections and receiving all bonding from a contractor before any work can begin.
By one estimate, the time to complete this huge section of wall could be cut by 80% due to this unprecedented maneuver.
The acting Homeland Security secretary, Chad Wolf, is exercising authority under a 2005 law -- then passed with bipartisan support -- that gives him sweeping powers to waive laws for building border barriers.
Since that time, of course, Democrats have changed their tune on a border wall. But it's too late -- the law is in place, and Trump is taking full advantage of it!

I think he was trying to play fair with the demonic forces allayed against him, sadly.
Does anyone remember who has been put in charge of this project? Jared Kushner. Was this his idea via his team of legal eagles or did they know it all along and how does he get involved at the micro level given his real-estate backround and I’d bet dollars to donuts he knows about the building trades. Love to see a documentary in a few years of what (is) was going on behind the scenes...

Trump luring democraps into a fight over building the wall is like Michael Jordan luring them into a fight on the basketball court. They had no idea what they were getting into or how utterly unprepared they were.
I think Trump should find other things to build now. Make democrats look totally incompetent again.
Not to mention 2 attempts to remove President Trump from office.
Considering the opposition, he’s done incredibly well. Stunning in fact.

I hope you are right and there will be some major housecleaning at the DOJ and FBI, but so far the coup plotters are still collecting paychecks.
Holder’s people are still running the DOJ.

All of us are/have been impatient; it’s just that one has to stop and consider what this ONE SINGLE MAN has been up against.
Talk about “Horatio at the Bridge” - that’s been President Trump.
It took this long to weed out the seditious bastards - and there’s still many more to go. When you stop to think about how badly and how seriously we’ve been internally compromised it’s unnerving to say the least.
What’s that old saying about “eternal vigilance”??? We got complacent, we allowed a Fraud to get control of the government from 2009-2016, and we’re paying the price now.
No matter what happens in the future, these last four years have been some of the greatest years this Country has seen in decades.
And we can thank President Trump for it - by extension, every American who stood up and voted for him.
