The Trump administration stunned Democrat lawmakers and immigration advocacy groups Wednesday, announcing it will waive federal contracting laws to greatly speed up construction of a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Department of Homeland Security said waiving procurement regulations will allow 377 miles of new wall to be built far more quickly in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The 10 waived laws include requirements for having open competition, justifying selections and receiving all bonding from a contractor before any work can begin.
By one estimate, the time to complete this huge section of wall could be cut by 80% due to this unprecedented maneuver.
The acting Homeland Security secretary, Chad Wolf, is exercising authority under a 2005 law -- then passed with bipartisan support -- that gives him sweeping powers to waive laws for building border barriers.
Since that time, of course, Democrats have changed their tune on a border wall. But it's too late -- the law is in place, and Trump is taking full advantage of it!

Not to throw a wet blanket on this great news, but why wasn’t this done two or three years ago?
Understand your point, but regardless, it’s being done now, and that’s a great thing.
Not really a wet blanket either; a lot of us have had the same questions. But remember he also has had to deal with the Obama moles, leave-behinds, and die-in-placers that that kenyan commie bastard put in place, as well as resistance from people supposedly on our side.
When you think about all this man has gone through in the last three years, it’s amazing he’s NEVER folded on us nor caved in.
He’s keeping his promise. No other President since Reagan has done as much in so short a time to stop the slide and repair the damage.

Once the chinese WuFlu bioweapon reaches Central America and Mexico, this barrier will be better than nothing in trying to stop hordes of disease carriers from flooding into the US
Democrat complaints will be hard to take seriously when almost every med facility in the US is a hotzone and US citizens seeking healthcare are being triaged in field tents and sent home to get well or die

In politics, timing is EVERYTHING.
We've watched the long-running drama of seditious Democrats and their evil fanatical partisan federal judges throw everything they have at a patient President Trump, who has been abiding by the law every step of the way.
Now, it's the runup to the November election, and an acquitted President can unleash the hounds of Hell against his ankle-biting opponents - just in time for the election.
I also predict that Barr's DOJ is going to be doing interesting things against the President's opponents in the next few months.

There is no evidence that the DOJ is going to do anything helpful.

When you stop and consider just WHO those opponents are - you know, the same ideology we trained to destroy for almost a CENTURY - it makes it even more pressing.
They need to be stomped on, by both feet.
3-D chess move. The RATs are all about 'delay, delay, delay'. Had Trump played this card 3 years ago, they probably would not have passed the budget bill this year, without language that would expressly prohibit the President from using Military funds. Progress to date has been slow - so they let it pass.
Now he just put the wall building in overdrive, hoping we take back the House in the Fall.
