Rush has served the conservative cause will. he has lung cancer and needs all of our prayers. So lets all give him our prayers and maybe tell every one what this mans radio show has meant or how something he has said has helped you in the past.
I’ve loved Rush since the 1980s! Get well Rush and return to the airwaves. We miss you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got hooked on Rush in 1997, heard him doing voice mimes of Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flint, when he got involved in the Clinton impeachment. Hilarious. Would like to hear those shows again. Get well Rush!
Dear Rush: I started listening to your radio show in 1989. I was so thrilled to hear someone on the radio who had the same conservative views as me.
I loved your book, The Way Things Ought To Be and thank you for writing it.
Your book series for children is great and should be in every public school library. Thank you for writing them.
I’m praying and believing for your healing and peace. I’m also praying for Kathryn, because I know how hard is to be a nurse for an ailing man (LOL).
God’s not finished with you yet — we need your voice in this crazy world. So fight, fight, fight. We love you!!!
bump
My Grandmother (God rest her soul, passed in 1996), used to listen to him on her radio in the kitchen...WSVA in Harrisonburg, VA. I didn’t get it as a teenager, too distracted, but now as a adult I get him, his message and his sound reasoning on how the Right understands life and prosperity and how deranged and insane the Left is.
I love the man. I do. I pray to the Lord he gets through the cancer and beats it. Every day with Rush is a blessing.
Dear Rush,
I got my first and only speeding ticket in 1990 while listening to you on the radio.
I was so engrossed in what you were saying, I forgot to watch the speedometer.
When the cop asked, “Lady, do you know how fast you were going?” I answered, “No, I was listening to Rush!”
Cops suck especially state troopers. Genuinely dishonest people. Get well soon Rush. Hope you can beat this.
So want Rush to get better!
We love Rush and listen to him daily. God bless Rush. We need RUSH!
Gods speed Rush!
Gods speed Rush!
To Rush, 1 trillion dittos!
I know that the big C diagnosis is the beginning of a fight, not the end of the world. Fight!!!!
Hi Rush:
Biggirl. Have been listening to you since 1991. Have been setting up the show thread over here at FR these last couple of years. Thank-you for all that you do and and get well wishes. God Bless.
Cannot remember when I discovered Rush. With Free Republic it’s easy our date is recorded. Here I lurked for as long as I could stand it, which I’m guessing was a couple of months. I know there was a discovery process to find Rush who I had read about but had no clue where he was on the radio dial and I live in flyover country. I believe it was around the time of Dan’s Bake Sale early 93. All that really isn’t important in the scheme of things.
Rush the fighter is now in a battle that can be won either way it goes but I pray for his family, his well being, his care providers, his state of mind, his desire to serve, his physical strength to withstand the rigors of his treatment, and the ultimate win for me would be many more years as the voice of optimism and truth for God fearing Christian Conservatives in the United States of America.
I don’t predict the future, but the Doctor of Democracy, the truth detector and The Voice of Optimism has taught me well, but not nearly enough of what needs saying to those who don’t yet subscribe to the values and principles he preaches. Those things when followed will do much to save our Republic. It is his legendary voice that will help strengthen the cause of Liberty and Freedom so important to the future of our Christian Nation to be a standard for the World.
I was on Long Island, and WABC had conservative talk - esp. Bob Grant - on before Rush came on the scene there. But initially the EIB wasnt what we heard from Rush on WABC. Recall that before the EIB, the conventional wisdom was that a talk show had to be local. And therefore Rush had to agree to do a local NY show in addition to EIB - and that was what I heard of Rush initially (I want to say no less than a year, more like three years). So altho Ive listened to Rush for 32 years, Im not actually a charter EIB listener.
In fact - it has to be said - Rushs local NY program didnt stand out in WABCs lineup. I was a desultory listener to that local show. So it was a revelation when suddenly Rushs slot was the national EIB feed, the existence of which I previously hadnt even suspected.
I have trouble reminding myself that, for many years - up to the Carter Administration era - I myself was a news radio fan. My daughter was shocked when I mentioned that, because all her sentient life she had seen me treating news like it was an advertisement for something I wouldnt buy on a bet. Which is precisely what it is.The reason is that If it bleeds, it leads commercial journalism is an entertainment format which is dedicated to bad news. This negativity is augmented by the superficiality induced by short deadlines - let alone breaking news. Compound that negativity with a claim (direct or indirect) that journalists are objective, and you have a perfect socialist storm. Why? Because the idea that negativity is objectivity is a cynical conceit.
It would be incoherent to be cynical about one thing, and simultaneously be cynical about something which is the opposite of it. Journalism is cynical about society. And, correspondingly, journalism is naive about government, which is the opposite of society. And, pace the blather about government ownership of the means of production, IMHO cynicism towards society and naiveté towards government is what defines socialism. Socialism" should more descriptively be called, governmentism.
Establishment Journalism is a cartel induced by the traditional dominance of news dissemination by the wire services. The wire services are virtual meetings of their members/subscribers, and those meetings have the effect Adam Smith would have predicted:
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. As I pointed out, journalism inherently promotes socialism, and consequently the conspiracy against the public resulting from the wire services is simply an amplification of that effect. The raison d'être of the wire services was the conservation of expensive telegraphy bandwidth in the widespread dissemination of news to the newspapers. But in the Internet era, telegraphy bandwidth is dirt cheap, and the wire services are no longer too big to fail. They should be sued into oblivion under antitrust law.Such a lawsuit must also attack one of the worst excesses of the Warren Court, the unanimous 1964 New York Times Co. v. Sullivan decision. Sullivan effectively eliminates the ability of politicians and judges to sue for libel. It does so on the fatuous rationale that
". . . libel can claim no talismanic immunity from constitutional limitations. It must be measured by standards that satisfy the First AmendmentAs if the First Amendment had ever been thought to touch libel law! It hadnt, for the simple reason that the Bill of Rights was crafted to suppress controversy over the preservation of the rights of the people under the new, tenuously ratified, Constitution. The Federalists had their greatest desire - a strong federal government - subject only to their satisfying the public that the Constitution changed nobodys rights. The Bill of Rights was therefore profoundly conservative of rights - particular rights, but also Common Law rights. The freedom of the press was freedom as it existed in 1788 - freedom subject to libel and, e.g., pornography restrictions.Whoso claims that politicians dont have protection from libel because freedom of the press might just as well claim that politicians have no protection from having their windows shot out of their houses because right to keep and bear arms. Its nonsense. And the effect of that nonsense is to unleash socialist propaganda against conservative (we are classical liberals) politicians and commentators. And - see Kavanaugh, Brett - conservative judges. The journalism cartel defines objective, liberal, and progressive to mean in accord with the journalism consensus (with the caveat that objective is applied only to journalists, and liberal and progressive never are). Thus, no liberal is ever libeled, so their nominal inability to sue for libel is moot.
The freedom . . . of the press protects the expression of political opinions from tyrannical government. The Sullivan decision overextends the idea that the press is threatened by the government. It overreaches in protecting the press" by establishing the journalism cartel as a quasi-religious priesthood which is able to reward its acolytes and punish its opponents. Ironically the press, directly and by its influence on the government, persecutes advocates of limited government. Under cover of Sullivans suggestion that the press is persecuted if its ability to propagandize against limited government is limited at all.
Heavenly Father please restore Rush to good health, use him to bring more souls to Jesus. Thank you God for giving him to us.
Dear GOD,
Please restore Rush Limbaugh to health and allow him to broadcast his fine radio show for many more years.
We ask for this healing not so much for the sake of Mr. Limbaugh, although we do want that, too, but for the opportunity of the enlightenment of so many who do not believe in YOU, GOD.
Especially we seek understanding for those offended that Rush’s talent is on loan from YOU.
Please, GOD, allow Mr. Limbaugh to soon be able to truthfully say that he does his show, “ With talent on an extended loan from GOD!”.
Amen
God Bless Rush, Get well soon.
my father started listening to Rush on Day 1, I think I started on day 2. Rush is in my prayers.
I love Rush, always have, always and forever. A blessed man, and my hero.
