Steve Forbes being interviewed on CNBC recently was asked about the possibility of President Trump being impeached. He said removal of Trump is “Not going to happen.” But after that he said something very interesting:
"The thing to watch for is what Attorney General Barr is gonna be releasing in the next few weeks in terms of his investigations of what was happening with the CIA, the FBI, and certain White House officials leading up to the 2016 election and afterwards. A LOT OF BAD THINGS WERE DONE. . . . "

If what Barr is “releasing” are not synchronized middle of the night SWAT raids, especially on Resistance Central Belmont Road NW, don’t bother me.

At the risk of getting flamed...here goes. I think Barr found the cancer was much deeper than first realized. It would explain why Horowitz had to go back and re-interview several of the individuals he had already talked to.
Everyone saw the low-hanging fruit, the Comey’s, Hillary’s, Strzok’s, and others. Where I think we are is there is a deep connection that reaches into the Executive and Legislative branch. The State Department, DOJ, and the IC were especially complicit. Add in senior staff at the White House and your investigation can multiply quickly.
In addition, I think you’ll find not only some well-known Congress-critters, both live and deceased have some very dirty hands. And if that’s not all...add in a complicit media AND foreign intelligence agencies and Barr could be facing a Mafia-style prosecution.
I am just as anxious as everyone else here to see some of these people perp-walked into Federal Court, but sometimes the suspect can’t handle the waiting either and makes a break to be first in the door to cut the best deal.
Clapper and Brennan both look like death warmed over because they know all IC trails lead directly to them. There is no underling that is going to fall on their sword to protect the likes of these two. Brennan and Clapper both have lied to Congress in their testimony and as a certain minister is so fond of saying...”the chickens are coming home to roost...”
Some of these investigations can take years to develop. I’ve personally been involved in a couple of Federal Task Forces and the AUSA’s aren’t going to jump quickly. And to add another wrinkle to the mix...wasn’t it just discovered the Andrew Weissman was involved in “hijinks” just prior to the naming of Mueller as Special Prosecutor.
Assuming Barr is a straight shooter (and I hope he is) I am betting he has enough evidence to blow the lid off the deep state in Washington. When the shoe drops, look for the rats to line up to squeal on the others.
Good post. I suspect most people who bring a defeatist attitude to FR today spent most of the 2016 campaign telling us that Trump should drop out of the race because he didn’t have a chance in hell of winning.
Lighten up. We’re on the same team.

Full disclosure of the TMI sort: I’m a Q follower*. And sure, anyone wanting to can hold that against me. Free country and all, somewhat at least still.
*follower meaning I try to keep up with the research and digs for info. Not a blind worshiper sort like some try to paint us.
But to the cynicism and defeatism...
With what’s gone on for the last handful of decades, those are very natural positions to take, really.
We’ve watched our country turn into a soup sandwich right before our eyes. We’ve heard those wanting our votes promise this that and the other over and over and deliver us nothing. We’ve watched the GOP turn into Dem minions. We’ve watched the systematic destruction of our culture and society.
And every time we’ve elected people to stop it, reverse it and/or fix it, they’ve immediately shown themselves to be part of it.
So the cynicism and defeatism are both learned behaviors and a form of psychological self protection. Dashed hope hurts. A lot. And now, asking some folks to have faith that something is actually being done is, to them, asking them to put their hand on a red hot stove again. And they’re saying “nope. It burns. Learned that long ago already”.
So, personally, and not that it matters at all in the bigger picture, I don’t hold cynicism or defeatism against anyone. Btdt myself. I got over it but don’t expect everyone to do so. That’d be silly.
So, as someone who tries to keep up with the research, I’ve come to the opinion that Civil War 2.0 isn’t something that *will* be fought, it’s something that *is* being fought right now. It’s just being fought outside public view in a low intensity manner but there is blood being shed between the good and bad guys. We see low order episodes in clashes between Antifa and Proud Boys and other anti commiescum volunteers that march out to meet and do battle against them.
The investigations are happening, just not as quickly as we would like. There’s a whole lot of evil that has to be cut out of all the institutions before anything can be brought forward else all would just be sabotaged by the minions of the DS in the mid ranks of every office of enforcement and the DOJ. They’ve had decades to stack the deck. That can’t be cleaned out with the wave of the hand or an imperial decree. But the process has been ongoing and is nearly complete.
And things have been happening. Fractures are appearing in the ranks of the evil.
I do believe we’re winning but there’s no bar graph on this game User Interface to tell us in a plain and easily view-able manner just how much progress is being made.

My point is that Steve Forbes has known Trump for years outside of politics. Take that for whatever you think it might be worth ... which is why I started my post with: “For what it’s worth.”

Of course, I live in DC. Our presidential primary votes don't matter. The nomination is invariably decided before we cast our ballots. That means I cast a protest vote and establish my bona fides for complaining.

I have thought for some time that that is likely a factor. Temperamentally, Barr strikes me as the kind of guy who is likely to plow straight ahead and let the chips fall where they may. But he will be very, very certain to have his case locked down before he moves. And he's running out of time.
I think you have a solid take on exactly how this is proceeding.
My concern is that when the shoe drops the Deep State, which is much larger and deeper than even we can at this point fathom, is going to hang together (as opposed to lining up to squeal on each other) and attempt to instigate a violent coup and civil war.
