President Donald Trump may become the first Republican to win Minnesota since Richard Nixon took the state in 1972.
The typically left-leaning state almost chose Trump over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race. Trump only lost the state by about 44,000 votes and leftists are starting to sweat with 2020 right around the corner.
Trumps support is growing so much in the state that even CNN has taken notice. The left-leaning network ran a piece this week diving into just how and why the state is turning to Trump.
Many voters we talked to here say they align more and more with the president, reported CNNs Martin Savidge.
Robert Vlaisavljevich, the mayor of Eveleth, Minn., is one of the many examples of a Democrat throwing his support behind Trump. While the mayor says he votes Democrat in local elections, he counts himself among the presidents many supporters.

Robert Vlaisavljevich...
With that last name his vote should count twice.
If he’d been in my basic training platoon the drill sergeant would’ve likely referred to him as Alphabet.
At least.
:)
You probably got some great stories!
ROFL
Minnesota would be a Republican state if it weren’t for the Somali roaches Obama infested the state with, including the one who married her brother
Bush senior started the whole mess
Scandinavians/norwiegans are a bit odd, but they are ok.
Still, they eat old fish roll around in the snow naked and beat each other on the butt with birch twigs.
Truly odd but intriguing people.
lol
It’s like a car accident pile up :)
Clinton too and he did it to Maine as well
It was Clinton that infested Minnesota and Maine with the Somalis.
It’s the insecure. smug, white liberals in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Rochester, and Duluth.
The rest of the state is deep red.
Duluth is in the Iron Range. And that region is all about iron ore mining. And things are very good for steel in the current economy. That will push Duluth red.
Rochester is basically the Mayo clinic and supporting medical services. That will stay blue.
The Twin Cities is not as blue as the Dems would like to believe. The pockets of deep blue usually carry the day. But we also had a lot of people in 2016 that voted for “Giant Meteor”, or whatever their funny write-in was. And many stayed home, not liking the choices. Those folks will go for Trump in 2020 and push the twin cities red.
Funny thing about the Somalis, when you listen to their conversations they are quite conservative in their political slant. And I think they will actually, eventually become a republican bloc once they assimilate.
I’m sure CNN is just getting the word out that they (the Dems) are going to need more dead and illegal votes...
It’s snowing in that picture, so it’s not too cold. Those girls would die in 5 minutes if it were a nice, crisp February day of -40F.
Oh yes. *Now* I remember why I moved to Minnesota 40 years ago!
Eveleth is near the site of Sen. Wellstone's plane crash.
Alaska Congressman Nick Begich (1932-1972) was born there--he was on the same plane as Hale Boggs, campaigning for re-election, when the plane vanished. His son Mark served one term as US Senator after narrowly defeating Ted Stevens after Stevens was found guilty just before the 2008 election (the verdict was later thrown out because of prosecutorial misconduct--without that pickup of a seat for the 'Rats Obama wouldn't have been able to get Obamacare through).
Wow. Didn’t know any of that.
