I am seeking breeding advice for Teddy the male Golden Retriever whom you can see in this video at my sister-in-law's house where he lives. If you have any advice please post them in the comments. One big question I have is WHEN Teddy will be ready for breeding. He was born last November and now appears to be full grown or at least close to it.
Hopefully, Teddy's future breeding sessions will calm him down because as you can see he is now extremely hyperactive.
My mother was a Golden breeder and always ensured proper lines, temperment and health (including eye, elbow and hip certifications) of any breeding animal. Iirc, no animal was bred before two years of age (and the female should visit the male on certain days of the heat cycle). So I’d second what others here have said about getting educated through research, vets and reputable breeders. There is an online Golden Retriever Forum you can talk to such breeders.
Yes it is. Hope he makes the right one.
And yet, we still have millions of dogs in shelters, pounds and foster homes.
You're expert. How did this happen?
Never claimed to be “expert”...No reason for smart ass remarks...Just that a lot of people care for Golden Retrievers and they are usually taken care of...
Unless you know that PJ’s relations are going to run a “puppy mill”, then I believe the choice to breed THEIR dog is theirs alone...
In my younger days, I had Plott Hounds that I bear hunted...I also bred them and sold to hunters in several states and also Canada for hunting...I don’t think any of them ever ended up in a shelter or foster home...
Goldens and other breeds that are working dogs need to still be bred. Especially those with good blood lines.
No breed should be bred by puppy mills.
Making sure they get trained is one way to break bad habits.
Usually? A quick search of Petfinder.com reveals 772 GRs available in my local area, alone.

Perhaps. But, per the OP, they are not breeding a working dog to do a job. They are simply breeding for the money. They don't even know the dog's blood line. How is that not a puppy mill?

How many dogs did you sell? (how many litters?)
Over 15 years, I sold 26 Plotts...
“... 772 GRs available in my local area, alone...”
Available how??? All through shelters or pounds???
Yes.................. As well as rescues...................
Of course, you could visit Petfinder.com to see for yourself.....................
OK...
I found 9 GR’s within 100 miles of my location...
You found 772 in your LOCAL area???? Where the hell do you live????
Only found 50 Golden Retrievers within 100 miles of New York City...I think you kinda loaded that 772 number...LOL
Okay, so after I made the video, my sister-in-law had a talk with Teddy. She told me that Teddy isn’t all that keen into becoming a breeder dog due to the pressure on him to perform. He prefers to just keep his current carefree lifestyle. However, Teddy realizes that as he gets older he may change so for right now he is keeping his options open.

These BC's have excellent bloodlines...back to Scotland/Welsh...
They are great dogs...and pretty laid back for BC's........
You kinda also didn't think to ask me where my search location was before calling me a liar.
GFY.

Yes.
His pedigree should list any champions and grand champions for the last three generations.
Also he needs to be trained, shown and be a champion himself.
If he has none of attributes then his value as a stud will be less.
Much less.
Think more along the lines of a soda from the vending machine rather then Mai Tai.
Sadly he isn’t hyper-active, he’s a golden it’s how they always are.
