I'm a HUGE new wave '80s fan, I have that song on CD in my car. Some of my other favorites:

The Vapors - Turning japanese

Wall Of Voodoo - Mexican Radio

Planet P Project - Why Me

Sniff 'n' The Tears - "Driver's Seat"

Russ Ballard - Voices

I'm a child of the 60's who firmly believe that that decade featured the best music of any decade.I believe that the 70s were a complete wasteland of good music but that the 80s has some really fun stuff out there...and some interesting music videos.

I agree with you about the 60s, but I recall more likeable songs from the 70s than I do from the 80s.

I stand corrected. Which is tough because when I stand corrected for too long, my back hurts.

“She Blinded Me With Science fits into both categories.”

Mediocrity at it’s dullest.

Makes me laugh thinking about how pathetic it was. The song and that people liked it.

So it’s not your cup of tea. Live and let live. I’m just trying to connect with people who see it as a positive memory. If you want negative memories let me go on about pop culture in the 70’s...

"Yellow River" by Christie.
"Love Grows where my Rosemary goes" by Edison Lighthouse.
"Old Black Water" by the Doobie brothers.
"Take it Easy" by the Eagles.
"In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry
"Let it be" by the Beatles.
"Knock Three Times" by Tony Orlando and Dawn.
"American Pie" by Don McClean.
"Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede.

And many others of which I can't think at the moment.

I never did that back then, and I graduated high school in ‘83. Hair has always been long and straight as a board. The one perm I got was seriously bad, and fell out within 6 weeks. My hair just won’t take that stuff! Had a lot of girlfriends who did it though. HAHAHA! Memories.... I’m currently converting old VHS tapes from the mid 80’s to 90’s into digital format. Talk about a walk down memory lane.

You brought but up.

It was not a positive.

MTV was not a positive.

And again, what song was that Miss Sakamoto line from?

Was that the Thomas Dolby snooze fest?

You know what was almost as bad? That Wang Chung tonight song.

There was good music in the 70’s. But the cheesy, selfish and weird pop culture that surrounded it was flaky in the extreme. I lived through it, have pictures of me going to Easter mass in burgundy pants and a red plaid sportcoat with white shoes and a belt!

“Am I the only person who has no idea what this thread is about.”

I didn’t know either.

Responses reminded me.

It’s a throwaway line from a cheesy MTV video of a boring song.

This is a highly subjective topic. If you dont like it, fine. But please don’t be the “turd in the punchbowl” for the rest of us that liked it. Enough with the negative waves, man! If you’re in a bad mood I’m sure there is a Jerry Nadler thread or 2 that needs somebody to piss and moan on.
