It's been a while since I had babies to deal with. However, I was in the super-market today checking out when I saw a locked case of baby formula in the front of the store.
Baby formula. Locked up. Why?
I was thinking maybe somebody out there knows why that is so.
I bet the stores don’t lock up work boots!
they sell it to those that don’t qualify for food stamps. Including lower middle class. Sold at swap meets, inner city corner markets. Ebay et al.
Stop thinkin $.10 on the dollar and think $.60-.80 on the dollar.
We lock up baby formula, as well as Tide, high dollar shampoo/conditioner, perfumes, make up, fake eye lashes, fake nails...it is stolen and sold at the local flea market, to the local independent shops, etc.
Do tell. I like to keep up with the urban dictionary meanings
Theft. Homeless people or druggies steal it for easy eats.
The last time we were out in Las Vegas, the WalMart on Boulder Hwy had the ‘lock display’ locked up behind glass.
Turns out they’re stolen to be used as weapons, in a sock.
Laundry detergent probably can’t be bought by WIC, so our honorable fellow citizens steal it.
Once again, I was correct.
Rampant shop lifting.
Bingo!
Our Walmart is undergoing a massive inside remodeling.
Part of that remodeling is putting in locked shelves with sliding glass doors with key locks on the doors.
Expensive liquor, personal hygiene products, baby formula and ?????? are now behind those new and locked sliding glass doors
If you want something that is locked up, you ring a button attached to the glass door. Usually in 1-2 minutes someone shows up and gets the product for you. They unlock the shelves to get the product out from the locked sliding glass doors.
Then, they do some type of product scanning with something that looks like a heavy duty smart phone. Next, they hand you the item to put into your cart.
As you leave the store, your receipt is scanned by another scanner.
A greeter at the entry door has a similar scanner if people leave without going through a checkout stand.
Thanks. Now we know why!
An employee at my local grocery store said its a black market racket, baby formula.
She said they have videos of women walking in late at night with fake car seats/carriers in their shopping carts & they load up formula/walk out. They cover the car seats/carriers with blankets so looks like sleeping baby.
Guaranteed these people use EBT too but thats for more essential items like booze, cigarettes & Cheetos.
Ive noticed stores in the same chain will lock up vastly different items depending on the store location.”
Or if the thieves are out of town and what specific out of town, the thieves are from.
Welfare queens absconding for their brood.
Just like razors were locked up because of druggies stealing them.
Ah yes, this demographic has so culturally enriched us.
Why don’t you just make your statement instead of posting a passive rhetorical question? Or are we really to believe you do not know the answer?
Creative license.
Locked up... In some stores it is, in others, I see it on the shelf...
Here in L.A., the Taster’s Choice instant coffee is locked up too. Apparently it is also a high theft item.
Flea treatment for pets too
Just lock up everything!
I’d enjoy the resulting lower prices and gladly put up with the hassle.
