Spread the love According to court records from 1998, Independent journalist John Lichfield discovered that the prostitution agency routinely ensnared girls as young as 15, forcing them to have sex with Hollywood’s rich and powerful elite. The French Vice Squad traced 89 young women who said they had been tricked or sometimes physically constrained by the agency into working for them. The girls were sometimes “sold on like cattle” to other call-girl agencies. While it is not clear whether or not De Niro was supplied with underage girls, his involvement in the ring received little to no media coverage.

The case uncovers the brutal methods used to snare young women, some as young as 15, into a call-girl agency. It also exposes attempts by the French government machine to block an investigation. Seems France did not want to embarrass senior politicians

Mitchum did it with suggestiveness; the remake was all overt. So it was very creepy, but in a strange way, not as scary.

There's a French tv crime drama named "Spiral" in English ("Engrenages" in French), that touched on politicians and underage Czech girls.

I'm guessing the French political machine told them to "move on" because the show pivoted for a season to a [legal-age] prostitution ring that would resell the Eastern European girls into a different country. Spain or Holland. Can't remember. One of those shows that show up every other year for 8 or 10 epis.

Also the ending in the first one was better. He had the cuffs slapped on him and was horrified about being sent back to prison.
The modern remake turned it into modern violence porn ending in him needing to be shot down.

Same with Ransom. The original was a masterpiece. The father was a pillar of strength, the cops were good guys. Great story.
The Mel Gibson one made the dad a little bit psycho, and the cop was corrupt and turned out to be the kidnapper.

They screw up a lot of good movies.

Could explain why DeNiro has been so vocal against Trump.
Trump has been putting pedofiles in prison bigly since he took office.

De Niro only likes black girls. He’d have nothing to do with Czech girls.

I love Mitchum but, I’m sorry, breaking egg shells over Polly Bergen’s breasts, isn’t exactly “suggestiveness,” lol. Surely, after Night of the Hunter, his most terrifying performance. What an actor.

Mitchum also had Gregory Peck, Martin Balsam and Telly Savalas in the
movie as well. DeNiro had no chance to look anything but second rate compared to that group.

Is that something different from De Niro’s links to the shady Malaysian billionaire prime ministers?

You all remember the scene from “Goodfellas” when DeNiro was walked out in handcuffs?

Maybe he will get to act out that scene again this time for real.

“I believe California is the only state that has outlawed prosecuting victims of child sex trafficking as adult prostitutes...and I recall an awful lot of FReepers were outraged over that idea.”

California’s progressive policy actually hinders law enforcement from helping underage sex trafficking victims. Generally, when underage prostitutes are arrested, they receive help. Even if charges actually were made, and such victims were convicted of a crime—which I believe is never the case—as minors such convictions would be sealed and have no bearing on their future in terms of jobs, loans, financial aid for school, security clearances, etc.

If you are going to take away the ability to arrest them for prostitution, there better be some legal tool in place to take them into protective custody. I think California failed to do so. Thus, outrage from conservatives is a reasonable response.

Unfortunately, there are some on this forum who believe prostitution is a victimless crime.
