Social network service Gab has been banned from using PayPal after the anti-Semitic profile of the man suspected of gunning down multiple people at a Pittsburgh synagogue Saturday morning gained attention.
Shortly after Robert Bowers anti-Semitic rants began to circulate online, PayPal sent the social networking site notice that it would be terminating its current relationship. PayPal offered no explanation to Gab for the decision, other than referencing PayPals right to make such a decision. (RELATED: Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Suspect Identified As Robert Bowers)
However, in a statement to The Verge, PayPal made its reasoning more clear: The company is diligent in performing reviews and taking account actions. When a site is explicitly allowing the perpetuation of hate, violence or discriminatory intolerance, we take immediate and decisive action.
Gab brands itself as The Home of Free Speech Online, and promises its users that they are free to express any opinion, no matter how unsavory others may find it. However, the platform claims it took swift and proactive action by providing Bowers profile and user data to authorities as soon as it was aware that the the account existed. We refuse to be defined by the medias narratives about Gab and our community, said the social media company. Gabs mission is very simple: to defend free expression and individual liberty online for all people. Social media often brings out the best and the worst of humanity.

Of course they don't apply that standard to the liberal owned companies like Facebook, Google, or Twitter. When a nut who posts on their servers commits a crime nobody shuts off payments to them, or cuts their connection to the internet.
It is time to seek legislation that limits the ability of large internet and payment service providers to refuse service based on political viewpoints. If we don't you'll see Visa and Mastercard refuse to process transactions for gun retailers, and internet service providers refuse to host their websites. And they'll definitely shut down this forum and many like it.
Nazis are not conservatives; Nazis are demonic.
Congress can authorize the creation of substitute, non-political, law abiding PayPals and require the banks to cooperate with them. The Republicans need to get going on this.
That’s not very Constitution-abiding of an approach. Congress is not authorized to do that.
The proper approach is anti-trust action against Big Tech. It is desperately needed and overwhelmingly warranted, and the laws are already on the books. We lack only a prosecutor with the will to pursue the charges.
The San Bernardino jihadists posted on Twitter. did Mastercard ban Twitter?
I can see lots of anti Semites still on Twitter. Some on the alt right but a hell of a lot on the left. Of course, the left’s hateful views are totally acceptable.
Just an excuse. farcebook and twatter aren’t shut down when a bearded savage uses them to promote terror.
They will be going after the chans next. So next shooter is a chan poster is my guess.
How one gets from small government conservatism to the 1,000 year Nazi German Reich is beyond me. Just goes to show you how brainwashed the left has become.
Pay Pal stopped payments to Pam Gellar. That is their history , attacking some of America’s best defendes of freedom.
Compare free speech to freedom of the press. FR has freedom of the press - meaning that Jim Robinson can publish what he wants to, and not publish what he doesnt. The implication of freedom of the press exercised by Jim Robinson is that FR is edited to be, and remain, a site at which to read and (within JRs understanding and perspective) write conservative commentary. If your idea of conservative wont fit in with JRs perspective . . . well, you have the option of finding a site that does - or make your own site, just like JR did. But understand that a great deal of conservatism does fit within JRs boundaries, and as a consequence FR has accumulated an audience which wont be easy to match.
OTOH freedom of speech free of all editing defaults easily to a disgusting level not only of verbiage but also of graphics. Can you say, public bathroom wall level of discourse? I knew you could.
The Sherman AntiTrust Act, for one, contains a provision for civil lawsuits under it.
I had Pay Pal when I was selling stuff on Ebay. I had to hook a checking account up to Pay Pal, although they did have a debit card of their own after awhile. Even Ebay must have a banking relationship to process payments, and there’s nothing to stop those banks from shutting down your payment processing site. Master Card did it to Robert Spencer.
So unless you can start your own bank that has a relationship to the Treasury Department, you’re never safe. Even then, what’s to prevent Treasury from decertifying your bank?
Right, but I spent as much time muting people as reading the threads, I found it was a waste of my IQ. Enjoy the sewer with yours. Ill stick with FR...this is and always will be the safest place to be.
I believe a lot of the anti sematic and racist comments are media maters shills... the idea is to make Gab, voat and other free speech sites repugnant to post on.... I believe that there are media mater shills that post on free republic. you don’t need that many to influence the tone on a social media site. I believe the only reason that the shill s don’t overwhelm free republic is that Jim Robinson gives them and others the boot when they are disruptive to the flow of conservative ideas and discussion something that does not happen on gab or voat.
‘Free speech’ social platform Gab has gone offline:

Exactly, and thats why Ill stay right here at FR. Jim keeps us safe.
Here is the problem with free speech. In the old days when some jerk came up to you and said his “free speech” about you that offended you, or your wife, or your family, or your church, or your parents, or your political beliefs... and he was in your face.... you could knock the crap out of him. And in my state, if you didn’t use a weapon it was a $35 fine. Now the government and various social media sites are trying to control both the hate and the response.
