I apologize for this vanity, but this has been gnawing at me all day.
Why would Trump hold a primetime, evening address to the nation to name a SCOTUS selection?
He didn't do it for Gorsuch. Usually, a SCOTUS selection is just a general press conference with the president and SCOTUS choice.
What if there's going to be ground-shaking news tomorrow? The sealed indictments? Mueller or Rosenstein getting fired? Possibly the reunification of North and South Korea? Troops on the border or a national emergency to immediately begin construction of the wall?
Exactly ... it’s about the nominee and he’s doing this to make sure his narrative gets out ahead of the MSM fake news attempts to Bork him.
RGB is out and we have two SCOTUS up.

Because this nomination is extremely important... one of the biggest, most important things of his presidency. The left knows this too, and is geared up for a fight. Now is the perfect time to pull out the big gun... the evening address is a big gun. Trump wants to win this one. I want him too.

Anytime Trump wants to use primetime to make an announcement worthy of interrupting regularly scheduled programming, it should always interrupt Madam Secretary.
Gee ... 9 p.m. ... that’s Hannity’s time slot. If Hannity’s not on the air, you don’t suppose ... nah!
Our Prez might have a little fun with all the media hyperventilation, rolling a grenade under the press corps with some unexpected announcement, but in the end he’ll use the event as intended.

Trump then stated he wanted someone who could first Read, and second Interpret the Constitution as written - so he was going to have to get someone not educated in Ivy League Schools, and instead he would find someone who could both meet the two qualifications and someone who is logical rather than emotional thus eliminating the majority of democrats he knew in public service based on what they had said before. Well he does like to announce a press conference for one thing and then turn around and make the bulk of it about something else so who knows.
I’d love to hear him say “Oh, and I’m declassifying all documents related to the FISA warrant for the Dossier.”

What if all he does is announce his Supreme Court pick? And is annoyed when ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox don’t break into their programming to cover it?
