Going on a walkabout with your favorite .22 caliber pistol is not only handy but fun.
These .22 pistols are very fun to have on your nature hikes so you can plink at rusty cans or going after small game. Heres a list of fun .22s pistol that many shooters would love to carry afield.
If you dont have any of these pistols, you might want to start with these:
Sicario Ruger MK IV
I know this is a suppressed pistol and we couldnt resist not mentioning, but its just awesome for not just plinking but shooting at small pests around the house without letting the neighbor know.
Ruger GP100 Revolver
When you hear revolver, most think it being chambered in a .357 magnum, but Ruger also makes it chambered for the .22 LR.
Triple-locking cylinder is locked into the frame at the front, rear and bottom for more positive alignment and dependable operation shot after shot.
Did you know this double-action gives you a full 10 shots before a reload? See the rest of the plinking .22 pistols here.
I love the H&R 999. When I was a kid, my uncle had one and we shot countless rounds through it at our camp during the summers. My cousin inherited it upon my uncle’s passing so I know it’s still in good hands, but I have many fond memories of that revolver :)

Regardless of job, location, need, animal, foe, 31 rounds are just hard to beat.
Erle Stanley Gardiner wrote an article on survival back around 1960.
That is the exact same gun in the same barrel length he recommended. One of the all time great revolvers.
The major drawback of the Mark II IMO is the fact that once you take it apart to clean it theyre damned near impossible to reassemble correctly.

I am a proud owner of one and I love it...
Cans? No, seems that road and trail signs are tha favorites.
Along with that is leaving all the shells and blown up stuff in pits to make shooters look like lowlifes.
I support the 2nd amendment but outdoor recreational shooting is totally out of hand and harms the rights of decent gun owners.
I’ve got a Keltec PMR 30 which is fun to shoot but louder than a You know what.
The H&R .22s have a lot going for them, including a lower price tag than S&Ws (and also possibly C&R status ;^)...
(But a .22 WMR will do things to a potato at 50 yards, that a .22 LR can only dream about... ;^)
Agree. I have a 1981 Mark II that probably the first year after Ruger brought in on line after the Ruger Standard. The other major drawback that I have was the feeding of HP ammo. I thought about taking the ramp down a little but hate to mess with it since it has such a low SN.
Well named.
RUGER GP 100. In .22
A close 2nd?
There's a technique for that. Took me awhile to find it. Let gravity do the alignment work and it goes together easy-peasy.
