Crop damage deer can be a big problem to many farmers, according to University of Florida IFAS document – Farmers reported that a variety of wildlife species were responsible for the crop damage they experienced during the past two years.
The majority of crop damage was attributed to these species: white-tailed deer (damage reported by 94% of farmers).
Farmers like Robert Runkles shared a video on Youtube, showing how he uses long-range firepower to mitigate this problem. Mr Runkles utilizes a .50 BMG to make this incredible shot from 902 yards.

When your livelihood is threatened farmers needs to do something. This farmer certainly has serious mad precision shooting skills, hats off to you! See the full footage of the 50 bmg deer shot here.

Around here farmers complain about deer and then post all their land.

Probably want to put the door they’ve fed to end up in their own freezers. What’s wrong with that?

When my dad dragged us to the Ozarks kicking and screaming back in 1956 we never saw any deer here as we had out in the Rocky Mountains. It was fifteen years before I saw two does very early one morning.
Then about 1975, a new company moved into the area and bought up lots of land for a power plant, and posted it against poachers. Soon we began to see deer, then more deer, now lots of deer. Now we have so many that the “Chronic Wasting disease” is beginning to spread in the area. It is now legal to shoot up to five deer in our area.

Had a deer problem at our former residence. Tried every thing including coyote urine to save my plants from the things.

Saw a movie about a baseball coach having problem with deer eating the sod on his field.

He was at barber shop one day and was complaining about the deer.

Barber gave him all the hair sweepings from the shop and told him to spread it around the field.

NO DEER!

I tried it and BINGO! NO DEER!

Even works for rabbits and armadillo.

From my days in the ag business:

“Deer are nothing more than rats on stilts.”

They do a huge amount of damage.

Do you live in Boone, Baxter or Marion counties? I did some research and the CWD was thought to have been brought in with the reintroduction of the Elk in the Buffalo River NP and also by a prominent business owner in Flippin. I noticed the deer in Rea Valley are small and in large herds.

“I always look forward to posts from ASJ, but this is disgusting.”

I agree. A .308 would have done the job just fine.

years ago used to shoot nuisance deer for grape farmers, big business and BIGGER money round here

at the time hunting only allowed shotguns(changes a few yeas ago) but nuisance deer could be shot with rifle

.308 kills deer dead.

Of course they do.

They don't want some nitwit shooting their cow. Or dog. Or child.

They probably have a certain number of vetted hunters that they allow to hunt their land.

I have to say, there is nothing like a corn and apple fed deer.

Yum!

The official sign for permission to hunt is a cupped hand outstretched with the palm up.

The liability insurance on people you allow on your property for recreation purposes is quite high. And no, your regular liability insurance will not cover it as someone I know found out to his bitter regret.

Which is why the land is posted and there is a fee.

They are not being mean, they just would rather not lose their farm.
