1,000 bunkers will be built by US company Atlas Survival Shelters in the next 12 months, compared to just 50 in the past year.
The swanky shelters include cinemas, spas, bars and even underground gardens.
Several Brit A-Listers in Hollywood have already snapped up the survival pads, which cost £150,000 each.
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un's aggressive nuclear programme is driving demand, with most of the new bunkers being built in Japan and South Korea.
Donald Trump has increased the pressure on North Korea, warning that there will be war if they don't stop their agressive behaviour.
Up to 5,000 people could live in one luxury complex in South Dakota, USA. Bunker company Vivos have converted old shops into a small town with a cinema, classrooms and even a doctor's practice.
In the event of a nuclear strike residents could live in the shelters for up to a year.
Bizarre new bunkers in Kansas will include fake "windows" with screens showing footage of country views.
"Not having a bunker is a bit like not having car insurance," says Atlas Survival Shelters founder Ron Hubbard.
"It's irresponsible in a world where people want to kill you just for being an infidel and are trying to get hold of plutonium."
For survivalists on a budget, cheaper nuclear bunkers start at a more modest £15,000, but won't have any of the luxury features like billiard rooms and spas.
Surely, it must be Donald Trump driving demand with his bellicose behavior. Fire that reporter right now!

But who is left to provide for you once you leave the vault?
I think I'm in love.
Saddam Hussein had one of those bunkers built by a German firm. What good did it do him? He was eventually caught in a one man hell hole in nowhere.

Before they turn on each other and fight to the death for what little food remains ...
I sure hope the home owners are pulling building permits and notifying the local tax assessor.
FO3, only the best video game every made.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is as awesome.
Thank you Bethesda.
How about running out of their HIV medication and breeding super AIDS?
Try and find a Mercedes dealer in the waste land, then find a gas station. No one will want any material thing you possess, actually when you come to the surface you may find your way to a grill, but you will be the menu.
So I guess a year after the war is over and supplies have run out they will stroll over to the BMW dealer and buy a new car and then drive over to the super market and buy food. Maybe they will spend the year boning up on gardening and hunting so they can grow radioactive veggies and hunt for radioactive gear.....nah, they will spend the year swimming, shooting pool and playing video games.
