North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un's aggressive nuclear programme is driving demand

WHAT???

Surely, it must be Donald Trump driving demand with his bellicose behavior. Fire that reporter right now!

But who is left to provide for you once you leave the vault?

Saddam Hussein had one of those bunkers built by a German firm. What good did it do him? He was eventually caught in a one man hell hole in nowhere.

“In the event of a nuclear strike residents could live in the shelters for up to a year.”

Before they turn on each other and fight to the death for what little food remains ...

Try and find a Mercedes dealer in the waste land, then find a gas station. No one will want any material thing you possess, actually when you come to the surface you may find your way to a grill, but you will be the menu.

So I guess a year after the war is over and supplies have run out they will stroll over to the BMW dealer and buy a new car and then drive over to the super market and buy food. Maybe they will spend the year boning up on gardening and hunting so they can grow radioactive veggies and hunt for radioactive gear.....nah, they will spend the year swimming, shooting pool and playing video games.

“1,000 bunkers will be built by US company Atlas Survival Shelters in the next 12 months, compared to just 50 in the past year.”

I guess Atlas is becoming a real world Vault-Tec.

The big fallacy of these high-end bunkers is that the owner and his family will also need "menials" (service technicians, maintenance workers - maybe even security, domestics, etc.) to keep them running for as long as it takes before the surface is inhabitable and safe again.

And just after the steel vault doors close and the nuclear exchange begins, those "menials" could simply depose the owner and his family (in order to, e.g., bring in their own families).

Regards,
