In his first job in the justice system, Roy Moores challenges to the local establishment effectively got him run out of town.
It was the late 1970s, in Etowah County, in the northeastern part of Alabama. Moore, a young prosecutor, took it upon himself to convene a grand jury to look into whether the sheriffs department was underfunded, and a local judge filed a complaint with the state bar. Moore then ran and lost an election against the judge, provoking another bar complaint. Both challenges to Moores license to practice law were dismissed, but by 1982 he knew it was time to leave.
... Now, decades later, a man who has twice been removed as Alabamas chief justice for defying federal judges and twice lost the governors race in the statea man who has questioned former President Barack Obamas citizenship, said homosexual conduct should be illegal and suggested the 9/11 attacks were an act of punishment by Godis on the precipice of becoming Alabamas next U.S. senator.
Moores long history of political pugilism might in fact help explain why he is the odds-on favorite to win the upcoming special election to fill the former Senate seat of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Moores Republican primary opponent, Luther Strangethe former state attorney general appointed temporarily to Sessions post in Februaryhas the backing of President Donald Trump and Senate leadership. But Moores continued defiance of the political establishment that Strange representsalong with his forthright fundamentalism in an increasingly secular, multicultural worldappeals to a substantial number of Alabama voters: Most polls put Moore comfortably ahead in the September 26 primary runoff. (The winner will square off December 12 against Doug Jones, a Democrat, but no Democrat has won statewide office in Alabama since 2008.)

I have no dog in this race...Our President said last night no matter who wins, Strange or Roy he will back who ever wins...
I don’t vote in AL. do you?
That’s right.... knock the dust off those old birds in the Senate.
My impression of McConnell is not good. Did you ever notice that most of his photos he is walking around with one hand jammed in his pocket.
Does he have his fingers crossed when he is talking to the press?
Stolen from Reddit actually.
I have no dog in this race.....

Wow, you fooled me.
And by the way, Strange is a dog IMO.
Freeper Pstal asked a question, I had read on another site an answer to the question so I copied and pasted her answer...(after asking her if I could do so)
Whatever Strange and the other one is or isn’t, I don’t vote in AL. and I asked if you did...maybe if you do, you could add something to the conversation...so do you vote in Al. and can you add some information to the conversation???
No, Im not a resident so I cant vote in Alabama. I can, however, donate to Moores campaign...and did, once in the primary and once during the runoff.
Well good for you...
Alabama has open primary and the general elections. Moore will be supported by the media, the polls and the democrats for the runoff.
Moore is a nevertrumper. If he wins the runoff, he will lose miserably to the Dem.
Count on it.
I, personally, do not like either one of these two....
I don’t like Lee R Utah and I don’t like Hatch R Utah, but the reason most of us in Utah are supporting Hatch is to keep Egg McMuffin and the Rat Romney Mormon Mafia out of the Senate...there again, we are in the same boat as Al...
UT AL are apples and oranges. The two really can't be compared politically speaking.
In my mind they are the same: Politicians, and they lie all the time!!!
Well of course. Politicians have been liars since the time of the Tower of Babel. Prevarication is practically one of the job requirements - perfectly honest men and women are soon weeded out of a kakisocratic system. Once needs to develop an understanding of the varying degrees of deception in a politician.
“Once needs” = “One needs”
Great rant.
It would look pretty good for Trump if could pull Strange’s fat out of the fire. The Establishment would take notice.
I have no horse in this race, but reportedly Strange does have a better chance to best the Democrat in the Alabama general election, as well.
Utterly brilliant. Best post of the month. This explains a lot.
I have not been following this Al race and in catching up I read your post and find it quite interesting. I see why Pres Trump is supporting Luther Strange since Judge Moore is associated with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and not in line with the Trump supporters. The Strange info is equally informative for those who see the necessity for electing a Pres Trump supporter to overcome the McCain type of Republican senators who are working against him and for the democrats.

What you are sowing is clear bullcrap. Youre spreading FUD (the sowing of fear, uncertainty and doubt) which is the old Microsoft marketing technique they used against their competition and potential competition to sell inferior products. The old he/she cant win in the general election canard is an old RINO lie which the base (minus a small percentage of the less discerning) no longer fall for. By the way, did you know that Trump couldnt win in the general election?
I’m stating facts. He is an activist judge. I don’t like them on the left and I don’t like them on the right. He is no different than the 9th circuit court. He legislated from the bench. He was kicked off the supreme court for doing so.
He thought he could use this fame as a stepping stone to become governor, but he failed miserably.
He was elected judge. That means he’s a politician. Longer than Strange I might add.
The media has refrained from attacking him because they want him to win. Notice the only topics are about how Strange and McConnell are in bed together.
You are playing right into thier hands. But what do I know. I’m just a anonymous poster on a website.
