In his first job in the justice system, Roy Moores challenges to the local establishment effectively got him run out of town.
It was the late 1970s, in Etowah County, in the northeastern part of Alabama. Moore, a young prosecutor, took it upon himself to convene a grand jury to look into whether the sheriffs department was underfunded, and a local judge filed a complaint with the state bar. Moore then ran and lost an election against the judge, provoking another bar complaint. Both challenges to Moores license to practice law were dismissed, but by 1982 he knew it was time to leave.
... Now, decades later, a man who has twice been removed as Alabamas chief justice for defying federal judges and twice lost the governors race in the statea man who has questioned former President Barack Obamas citizenship, said homosexual conduct should be illegal and suggested the 9/11 attacks were an act of punishment by Godis on the precipice of becoming Alabamas next U.S. senator.
Moores long history of political pugilism might in fact help explain why he is the odds-on favorite to win the upcoming special election to fill the former Senate seat of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Moores Republican primary opponent, Luther Strangethe former state attorney general appointed temporarily to Sessions post in Februaryhas the backing of President Donald Trump and Senate leadership. But Moores continued defiance of the political establishment that Strange representsalong with his forthright fundamentalism in an increasingly secular, multicultural worldappeals to a substantial number of Alabama voters: Most polls put Moore comfortably ahead in the September 26 primary runoff. (The winner will square off December 12 against Doug Jones, a Democrat, but no Democrat has won statewide office in Alabama since 2008.)

What about the opponent, Luther Strange?
What’s the story on him?
Strange is known for blocking an investigation into a corrupt former governor. He is highly qualified to help Mitch McConnell continue to do nothing.
Cruz is trying to build a coterie of toadies.
And in return, said former governor appointed Strange to take the place of Jeff Sessions, when Sessions resigned his Senate seat to take the AG position.
It is the worst kept secret in Alabama politics.
I could not, in good conscience, vote for Strange, unless he were the only thing between losing the seat to a damned democrat.
In the instance of Luther Strange, the name says a lot. He is almost the poster child for Southern Republican Establishment corrupt politics. By all standards, the actual “corrupt” behavior is rather modest, especially by Washington Swamp standards. The charge was that Luther Strange, then a candidate for Attorney General of Alabama, had accepted a $75,000 campaign donation from a coal company, then when a pollution case against the coal company was brought by the Federal EPA, Strange got the jurisdiction returned to state courts, and later on the coal company was exonerated. This is all circumstantial, of course, and I do not know any further facts of the case, but the light of suspicion has been cast. When appointed to the post of Senator by the then Governor of Alabama, who himself was forced from office due to charges of corruption, Strange also inherited this stain of further corruption, and the innuendo has followed him.
Is Roy Moore better or worse? I don’t know that either, but he does have a reputation as a “loose cannon”.
As for the “loose cannon” descriptor, I will go with knocking down the road blocks.
Perhaps, the individuals on the receiving end of the cannon are getting a little tender....Well, they should be.
My prayer and hope is for the good judgment of the voters in Alabama to prevail.
Roy Moore owes this to McConnel and the rest of the RINO establishment types in Alabama, Had the “moderates” in Alabama rejected McConnel and his cronies in the state, and put up an establishment-rejecting “moderate” Alabama conservative, instead of strange Strange, they might have beaten Moore.
I think Trump is not serving himself well, helping to protect McConnell by backing Strange. The GOP grass roots is ready to reject more establishment GOPers who are voting against Trump’s agenda, and a Moore win could give wind to the sails of that effort. Backing Strange is backing McConnell is backing the GOP establishment and its agenda of working against Trump’s.
Judge Moore working with the ToxicTed (TPP, SoccerBalls and Teddy Bears, endorsed Thad Cochran, cheated in IOWA primary, refused to endorse Trump at RNC convention) Machine. Judge Moore calls Trump out of touch with his base. Judge Moore HIMSELF says he aligns most with Senator Mike Lee. Senator Lee of the RNC Convention buffoonery, sleazy lawyer tricks tried to block Trumps nomination. Senator Lee, the NeverTrumper who immediately set about trying to thwart Trump;s Trade authority with his Border Adjustment Tax Strategy.
Judge Moore endorsed by Sarah Palin, whose serious anti-establishment chops had her running with McCain for VP in 2008; ENDORSING McCain 2010 AND 2016, endorsing Jeff Flake in 2010; endorsing Orrin Hatch, and endorsing Gang of Eight Kingpin Marco Rubio.
Judge Moore, deploying the classic LyinTed campaign of lying and cheating and TRANSFERENCE by painting Luther Strange as Establishment Globalist McConnell Swamp Creature Puppet despite the fact that Big Luther:
only met McConnell a couple weeks ago
Does not support McConnells leadership
has LESS time in Washington D.C. than does Trump
is an Eagle Scout, devout Christian Man, endorsed by National Right to Life
endorsed by NRA
endorsed by Alabama Farmers
endorsed by a HISTORICAL OUTSIDER President Donald J. Trump
endorsed by Trumps VP, Mike Pence
has NEVER served in D.C. until Chosen by Pro-Trump AL Governor to replace Sessions
served honorably and effectively as popular Alabama Attorney General.
never asked for McConnells endorsement
has voted 100% Trump his brief stint as U.S. Senator
has earned the personal respect and AFFECTION of outsider President Trump
Yeah, so I guess being President Trumps personal friend and political ally now qualifies Big Luther as an Establishment Swamp Creature????? And the ThadCochranToxicTedTPP Machine now qualifies for serious anti-establoishment chops?? Politics sure does make for strange double-speak bedfellows all right.

Problem is things are so fuzzy today that a true statesman gets lost in the crowd.
Thank you for the background. One of the drawbacks of search engines is that without a beginning bit of knowledge its hard to find history on people like Moore & Strange. The recent articles dominate the search results and I am much more interested in the past 5-10 years.
I’ll stick with Moore.
Right...we believe those talking points. Its a real mystery why McConnell and the Swamp establishment would spend MANY millions of dollars to attempt to keep Luther Strange in the Senate.
Ill stick with supporting Roy Moore and hope that the bulk of Alabama voters (who know the two candidates well) also stick with Moore.
At 8:34: Rally last night Trump concedes: I might have made a mistake in endorsing Strange... He said both Strange and Moore are good men and he says he told Strange that if Moore wins, he will come to Alabama and campaign like hell for Moore.
I did a bit of research last night to try and understand Trumps support for Strange...who does appear to be a “dirty deal player” ....IMO Trump really was revealing he was put between a rock and hard place by by Washington heavy hitters to stand with Strange....though he stood there with Strange I didn’t get the vib at all he was really in it for Strange...rather doing what he had to do in order to get something “bigger” from the deal he wants.
You generally don’t start out supporting a candidate by saying you might have made a mistake in doing that. So I don’t put a lot of weight in Trump standing with Strange...it was simply a “pay back” often seen in politics. But he didn’t appear to e to be really in it!
.....”Its a real mystery why McConnell and the Swamp establishment would spend MANY millions of dollars to attempt to keep Luther Strange in the Senate.”......
Looks to me like he’s a peg in the retaining the power they weld. He’s just another peg for the to manipulate and vice versa.
As for which is the better man in this Alabama run...it would appear Moore is....as to how much actual clout he has to bring to the table is questionable .. you have to be a pretty hard hitting player to stand against anything in Washington. Even the best of them have been done under by that vile bunch all across congress.
Why didn’t you mention the two million dollar home Lurch has lived in for years? Or the the properties he owns in Washington, DC, Lurch is a globalist member of the cheap labor express. He’s been a fixture in the halls of Congress for years. The good people of Alabama know all about him and for that reason will send Judge Roy Moore to the US senate.
Because I DIDN’T write the piece, as I said: (Pasted and copied from a friend)...
“What about the opponent, Luther Strange?
Whats the story on him?”
Not my guy but Luther is no RINO. He is an ambitious slick politician with painful campaign ads but thus far has voted 92% with Trump. (Past performance is no guarantee ...). Moore is an idealogue and an odd bird and you can be sure he won’t be voting 100% with Trump or anyone. Strange will blend into the Senate. Moore will stir up all kinds of trouble. Come on Roy!
