When you put your gun on in the morning and leave the house for the day, are you concerned about printing?
The above picture was shared with me on Twitter. Taken by a man in a checkout line behind a woman whose firearm is only being thinly veiled by her light pink t-shirt, she could obviously care less about printing.
Its a topic of discussion Ive had with several instructors and an issue Ive had myself should we be concerned with whether or not our gun prints through our clothing? Yes, but mostly because if youre carrying concealed, the object is to actually conceal the firearm. Otherwise, you might as well open carry (and dont get me started on that today).

How is the Po Po supposed to know you from the bad guy?
My plan is to have the bad guy disarmed and me be disarmed when they arrive.
This is the prob with concealed carry but the public does not appreciate that an armed society drops aholes in their tracks.
We are making progress, lets not squabble.
Our secret service don’t go poncing about with weapons in the open making themselves targets, and they have a well oiled plan.
“Wow. What world is that going to happen in?”
Well, if you are referring to cops killing someone who is, say, carrying concealed in Costco, it happened in Henderson Nevada a few years back. In the space of 7 seconds, the cops shouted conflicting instructions, and he went from not knowing there was a problem to dead.
And of course, Open Carry isn’t legal everywhere. MIlitary bases, Schools, Etc. It is legal in many places in Arizona, but I have yet to see someone open carrying. My SIL tried it, decided he didn’t like it, and stopped.
The “printing” problem can be caused by someone falsely accusing you of brandishing or threatening, and the cops arriving ready to shoot. Same with open carry.
Do what YOU want, based on the law. I’ll carry an LCP. Or an NAA. Or maybe not carry. Or carry a Beretta 92 during the winter...
CZ 75 in winter 40 S&W
CZ 82 most of the time
“At most you will get a warning.
Your mileage may vary.
Depends on the sleeveless vest. In colorado it is not uncommon to have a hiking vest with a light jacket over it instead of a heavy coat in the fall or even some winter days.
On a routine traffic stop they know who I am, I hand them the DL The CHL registration and insurance.
I know, I know but consider their position, and Yours..
Know escalate it X 1000..
I aint no hero.
NEVER mouth off to the Po Po.
Comply and take it to the courts.
Bottom line is don’t brandish. gladis kravitz may wig out
A friend of mine always says, “What’s the first rule of a gun fight? To have a gun!” If the gun is too big, bulky, or uncomfortable, you may not always carry it. However, the LCP is always easy to take along.
I’m familiar with the costco case. It wan’t OC, but a concealed handgun that became unconcealed while in the store. It was a crummy police shoot, but also an anomaly and partly the result of the person carrying refusing a request to leave. Plenty of stupidity to go around.
I’m amazed that you haven’t seen OC in AZ.
SWATting is a risk regardless of whether you’re armed or not. It’s also extremely rare. I’m aware of precisely one instance in VA where someone carrying a gun was SWATted. The police and the victim handled it well, the victim was briefly detained, and the person placing the call was caught and I believe charged.
I asked on day one what the protocol is if we call in an active shooter to the Po Po.
Had a meeting with them and they said we will drop you (we dont know you from jonah) Maybe in future they will.
Except it has not happened.
When there is a armed citizen response to an active shooter, the situation is usually over before the police ever get there.
The initial comment was very much in jest. I have a concealment vest myself. I want to thank everyone for their replies. I am not a fashion policeman. If we ever meet and you are wearing your vest, I promise I won’t snicker. LOL.
I solved the issue by losing a lot of weight. Now everything fits awesome and I can conceal inside my waistband easily.
Even then, most of the time, her purse would hide it...
Tactically, well, bless her heart.
I just upgraded my warm weather concealed carry. Instead of struggling to conceal my full-size VP9 during the spring & summer, I purchased a Walther PPS M2 LE. I use a Brave Response IWB belly-band/velcro holster & carry 2 spare 8 round mags. I wonder if anyone who’s ever been in a gunfight using a semi-auto handgun ever considered their mags were “spares” or “extras”? I digress. A semi-loose t-shirt or untucked polo/button down over this rig and there is no printing at all.
As to the Walther PPS M2 LE, Cabela’s had it retail at $499 and on sale for $449. $20 off Father’s Day coupon after that, and Walther’s $100 mail-in rebate, and I’ll have a little more than $350 into this piece. After a couple hundred rounds, so far it’s one of the better value purchases I’ve made.
Me too. Hawaiian shirts are my favorites.
I believe that is a pretty ignorant statement. I have a permit because I like to travel. It is good in 38 states. I avoid the other 12. You are more likely than me to wind up in chains if you visit a state that requires a permit and you actually have to use your weapon to defend yourself than somebody that has a permit valid in that state. Good luck in court with that 2nd amendment is my permit argument. I am sure that is a novel argument to most judges and works out well every time for everybody that tries it.
Yeah...that’s true.
Shot one of these this afternoon in 9mm. Was not ready for the recoil and reinjured my forearm.
