She has a plethora of health issues and I wish her well in dealing with them, however I hope she has the discernment not make it a “Weekends at Ruthie’s” scenario, when it is time to retire, it is time to retire...

Souter retired 8 years ago.
Showed his true colors.
Retired so Obama could pick his replacement.

Clarence Thomas retire?!?! That would be a catastrophe.

Souter is indeed 77 today, but since he stepped down from the Court in 2009 and was replaced by Sotomayor, there is no death watch for Souter.

Find a conservative judge who is at least two minorities just so we can call the libs a bunch of racists and hypocrites when they try to defeat this judge.

Sure but Kennedy has been swing vote for the libs in a bunch of key cases. It would be wonderful to see him replaced with a constitutional conservative!!

He was but looks like he’s slowly warmed to him..at least on a case by case basis. Regardless of what he thinks of Trump, he will be a great defender of the Constitution.

The counterpoint article says various legal commentators go to sleep dreaming that Comey's firing will keep a Trumphobic Kennedy on the court.
The article also notes that in reality Kennedy has said nothing to nobody.

I would consider, if I were Trump, Ted Cruz.
1. It would prevent Cruz from running for president again in 2020
2. Ted is probably a reliable conservative.
3. He comes from a deep red state where he would be replaced by a conservative.
4. He is young enough to be there a long time.
5. The Senate might have a hard time turning him down.
Note: I was not a Cruz supporter in the election.

Janice Rogers Brown. She is 68, but to see Chuckie Schumer bust a blood vessel trying to demonize her would be a riot.

I think the idea is to have Thomas retire within a few years so that Trump can nominate a conservative replacement. Not to have the ego that Ginsberg has. She could have (should have?) retired a few years ago so that obama could have replaced her with a young liberal that would have been there for years. (HA HA!!!)

yes, but Souter is irrelevant since he has been off the court for years.
Ginsburg, otoh, is falling asleep in her duties and definitely past due for retirement. How long can she and her clerks maintain the pretense that she is an actual Supreme Court Justice ??????

You just posted what I was thinking.
And I wanted to throttle Cruz after his disastrous appearance at the Republican convention.
