What would those three guns be? Jerry Miculek had a chance to voice his response on the subject.
Wait, before we get to the guns, just to clarify that were talking about having these three guns for survival.
Some folks have talked about the .357 revolver as a primary SHTF in many internet forums and this has stirred up the hornets nest. Mainly due to the age demographics, for instances, folks that are from the older generation would agree with the .357 revolver. Where the younger millennium generation will stick with the striker based handguns like the Glocks in 9mm.
Dont think so?, someone had asked this question to shootist extraordinaire Jerry Miculek and even he went with an 8-shot .357 wheelgunspecifically a Smith & Wesson 627as his one handgun for every situation. Take a look here.
An AK, a .357 and a 1911 Colt .45.
Ruger 10/22
S&W .357
AR-15 or 12g shotgun
Three ARs.
Marlin 60
1911
AK
Ruger 10/22, 22lr
AR15 16”, 223Rem
Winchester M70, 308Win
My husband M1911 Colt 45, Remington 30.06, AR-15.
My choices are:
Main Home Defense Weapon: Remington 870 12 ga. Pump.
Secondary: Glock 19
Main Battle Rifle: AR-15
Your three should be right on top of the list.
But most any good quality fighting handgun could replace the 357.
But the 357 is a very good option.
Survival?
30-06, 22 rifle, 12 guage
HK MP5 SD,Sig 716 DMR, M60 plus plenty of ammo for all three
You got in one shot. My choices may vary a bit but you have the bases covered.
A quality 1911 in 45ACP
A precision rifle, scoped in 30-06
A Remington 870 in 12ga
It might seem strange, but a .22 Pistol and rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.
I’m not going running to a bug-out shelter anymore and I’m getting old. .22’s just weigh less to lug around and the ammunition just weighs less for greater quantity.
Ak, 357 Magnum, and absolutely positively a .22r
We’re fantasizing here, right? For survival, why choose three different calibers? One thought might be one would be more likely to run across something that would fit. Another thought might be to have a pistol and long gun using the same cartridge, and a shotgun. Less ammo to mix up.
That MP5 should have been an MP5K
for later
And I’d probably substitute a 12 gauge for the AK.
Wait... why a 1911 Colt .45?
I’m not challenging you; I just don’t know what the third gun is for.
(I grew up in NY; I endorse gun ownership, but the gun culture is fairly alien to me.)
