HOW THE HELL CAN IT BE THIS HARD TO REPEAL A BILL THAT: 1) NO ONE WANTED 2) WHICH COSTS FAR MORE THAN EXPECTED 3) WHICH WAS BUILT ON LIES ABOUT REDUCING COSTS AND 4) KEEPING YOUR PLANS AND DOCTORS AND 5) IS DOOMED TO FAILURE????
But that’s not what the President campaigned on that he was going to do. His promises sounded almost more comprehensive that Obamacare.
Because Ryan and Trump both know that if repealed without a replacement, there will never be a replacement. And in swing districts that spells disaster.
Deception wins. (AND)
REPEAL had the word ‘AND’ appended which eliminates Repeal.
they knew anything that hit Obama’s desk would be vetoed. No loss. Just pin it on Obama. Now that their vote really counts, it’s been hard to find like mindedness about what to do.
It should be repealed the same way it was passed if need be. Let insurance companies compete for my business. If I want their product, I’ll buy it. The government should provide no more than a clinic for the indigent, and offer an inurance policy for pre existing conditions FOR SALE just like FEMA flood insurance.
Joseph is a bible hero for saving his family from a famine. However, he wasva servant of the pharoah. Look what happened when the government turned its power on those Egyptian people through Joseph.
Genesis 47
Joseph Deals with the Famine
13 Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaohs house.
15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed.
16 Then Joseph said, Give your livestock, and I will give you bread for your livestock, if the money is gone. 17 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys. Thus he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock that year.
18 When that year had ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, We will not hide from my lord that our money is gone; my lord also has our herds of livestock. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our lands. 19 Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give us seed, that we may live and not die, that the land may not be desolate.
20 Then Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them. So the land became Pharaohs. 21 And as for the people, he moved them into the cities,[a] from one end of the borders of Egypt to the other end. 22 Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had rations allotted to them by Pharaoh, and they ate their rations which Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their lands.
23 Then Joseph said to the people, Indeed I have bought you and your land this day for Pharaoh. Look, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. 24 And it shall come to pass in the harvest that you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh. Four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and for your food, for those of your households and as food for your little ones.
25 So they said, You have saved our lives; let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaohs servants. 26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have one-fifth, except for the land of the priests only, which did not become Pharaohs.
Conservative purists vs. moderates are tanking this.
The problem - like many things government-related - is that people can no longer see the source. The source of skyrocketing health care costs isn’t recent. In fact, it can be traced all the way back to Medicaid and Medicare.
From that point forward, the government has had its finger on the scales of the market - and it’s used that leverage to enact many laws and regulations to increase the amount of force that finger exerts.
If anyone *really* wants to fix healthcare they have to go back and get rid of those two programs and all laws that use those two programs as leverage. Only then will you have a market capable of true price discovery.
But good luck with that. And it’s not just the libs...blue-hair conservatives flip out when you threaten to take “their” stuff.
But if it isn’t done - and soon - the entire healthcare system in the US will collapse under its own weight. That’s not wishful thinking, it’s simple mathematics.
Can they get 217 other Republicans to vote for them?
navysealdad wrote, “You have to have something to replace it.”
Why? Never had to, before Zero-don’t-care.
But, if you insist...
1. remove any and all Federal blocks to selling insurance across state lines; understanding that the States will have act in the affirmative on this, as well.
2. legalize international purchase of prescription medicines.
3. Prohibit Medicare and Medicaid services to non-citizens.
Trump swallowed gallons of Ryan Kool Aid.
Can someone always come up with conventional wisdom that proves Trump can't win? Sure, everyone in the media, all the political pundits, all the "Conservative" power players, and an awful lot of people here and elsewhere have been doing it since the day he announced that he'd run and are still doing it.
At lot is possible. How much if it is probable is hard to say, but I suspect the usual rules on how to determine probability no longer apply. Therefore, I say never underestimate the size of the rabbit Trump can pull out of a hat full of rioting mice.
It was repealed in 2015...pass THAT bill and stop all this futzing around.
***********
No chance.
They passed that bill only when there was zero chance that it would become law. They obviously have no intention of bringing that bill up for a vote again.
I think it’s clear now that they were just pretending all that time, in order to get conservatives’ votes.
Answer:
Simply repealing Obamacare would be political disaster for the Pubs as Rats would then flood the airwaves with tales of people who lost their Obamacare & got sick and/or died for lack of it.
Replacing Obamacare is even more dangerous for the Pubs. Any new bill produced by Congress could easily be something no one wants, costs far more than expected, & is built on lies & wrong assumptions. The idea that anything is better than Obamacare is wishful thinking. Congress can easily make health insurance & care much worse.
Do I expect the elite 535 to produce anything that actually benefits the country & its people in a couple of months? A 3 legged donkey is more likely to win the Kentucky Derby in record time. I prefer they take as long as they need to produce a quality bill that actually serves the people rather than the insurance companies & lobbyists.
Note that I am NOT defending Obamacare, rather I have little faith that Ryan/McConnell/Trump & Co. can do any better. I believe the best solution for Health care is for the government to have as little influence as possible & let the free market resolve these problems as it always does.
Yes, that’s the key — stop the mandate — and allow anyone to buy any other plan he can find.
THAT, Sir, is the Irony that nobody seems to get!!
We are CONSERVATIVES! We don’t want Government touching anything but our borders and our defense.
1. people have been put on the Ocare bandwaggon and are now dependent on it.
2. We lack a unifying principle of free speech which would abolish the current double slavery of welfare and non peofit subsidy.
A. I am a slave to pay for others to open their mouths to slander me ie welfarites and non profits
B. The welfarites in particular are designed to stay on welfare and never see out of the cave. Much like farmers paid not to farm, mthey are paid to waste their lives much like slaves.
Because:
poor people can vote,
there are still 48 democrats in the Senate,
The mainstream media is against you just because your not democrat.
Repeal the bill totally and the headlines and MSM tv outlets will lead with every person who suffers due to the repeal for the next 4 years.
Be real if Trump had used someone else he would have alienated the Speaker of the House and none of Trump's agenda would get passed for the next 4 years. I don't like Ryan but for peat sake he is Speaker of the House. Trump didn't pick him so how is Trump's mistake?
*** “Health insurance is not listed in the constitution”***
If it had been listed in the Constitution it would have sounded Like This
“Congress shall make no Law... “
