Depends on how a couple of other things work out but there are about three people who are ardent Trump supporters who Trump respects and likes, and that few if any people would think even has their hat in the ring.

Can they get 217 other Republicans to vote for them?

Trump has a way of getting the required votes when no one expects him to and I'm sure he has some, um, colorful yarns, he can share with people in the House to win them over to his side if he makes the assessment that the reason they aren't getting anything done is Paul Ryan. After all, he tried to help good old Paul and look at the mess, right?

Can someone always come up with conventional wisdom that proves Trump can't win? Sure, everyone in the media, all the political pundits, all the "Conservative" power players, and an awful lot of people here and elsewhere have been doing it since the day he announced that he'd run and are still doing it.

At lot is possible. How much if it is probable is hard to say, but I suspect the usual rules on how to determine probability no longer apply. Therefore, I say never underestimate the size of the rabbit Trump can pull out of a hat full of rioting mice.
