Well, the 2017 Academy award nominations were just released. According to a report, (I'm not wasting my time with it) 7

The most diverse ever , LOL
In before the (much deserved) Humblegunner snark.
What’s an academy award?
I'm a big time fan of the golden age musicals. My wife saw LaLa Land and said I'd be disappointed.
WOW are you excerpting your own blog?
The nominations and the voting are rigged BIG TIME
What stopped you from posting your whole mess right here?
Are you trying to generate traffic for your blog?
I don’t actually hope that you die in a fire.
A traffic accident will be sufficient.
Both a marketing tool that can be bought, as well as a self-pleasuring exercise for a bunch of hedonistic professional liars with generally below-average IQs.
Why would you watch a 3 hour Trump hatefest?
Why would you watch a 3 hour Trump hatefest?
They think it’s their job to “speak truth” to “Trump’s America”.
I think the last time I watched the Academy Awards was in 1972, and that was just for a few minutes since Marlon Brando had some whacko Indian chick come out and do a spiel...I knew it was a losing proposition then, and it hasn’t improved any since then.
I NEVRE watch any awards shows. I consider them to be just a bunch of wealthy people getting together to pat each other and themselves on the back, and give out trophies. Meanwhile, they continue to churn out terrible movies, shows or songs.
The awards are supposed to honor talent, not social quotas!
From what I've read, La La Land is a formulaic rehashing. Not a terrible movie, just a mediocre one that shouldn't be at the top of any "best" list.
I hope so. But I'm always prepared to be disappointed by Hollywood.
La La Land, a ridiculous movie filled with annoying white people.
I saw Chazelle's first movie, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench. It was the same sort of thing -- singing + romance -- but set in Boston. The leads were all non-white. And annoying.
I don’t remember the last time I watched them, if at all. Maybe some of it when Johnny Carson was the host? I could see myself watching at least his opening bit, but none of it was memorable. I think he was the host when they drummed up interest by leaking that a streaker was going to flash by.
I was watching a football playoff, so the long suffering Mrs. Tanker let me off the hook and went to see it with my daughter.
