Kushner to be named 'senior adviser' to Trump: report
The Hill ^ | January 9, 2017 | Mallory Shelbourne

Lawyers have etched out a plan for President-elect Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to serve in the new administration, according to a report.

Mike Allen said in his inaugural Axios AM e-letter early Monday that Kushner will serve as senior adviser. Kushner is reportedly now searching for members of his staff.

The New York Times reported last week that Kushner has been pursuing real-estate deal with a company that has close ties to China, all while advising his father-in-law during is bid for the White House.

According to the newspaper, Kushner hired the law firm WilmerHale for consultation on how he could follow ethics laws should he enter the Trump administration.

Just after Trump’s election victory, NBC News reported that the president-elect wanted Kushner to sit in on the daily presidential briefings. A transition official denied at the time that Trump had requested his children receive top security clearances.

Ivanka is a Dem, too. Supported Corey Booker.

HOWEVER, Trump was and continues to be the person we need out of all those available.

I know I won’t like a lot of what he does...but if he can get a few things right it will save our country.

If for nothing else, he made sure Clinton didn’t become President and no one else could have stopped her.

“Ivanka is a Dem, too.”

Are you sure? I thought she was a registered independent.

Yes. The president is allotted X number of advisors and staff.

“If for nothing else, he made sure Clinton didn’t become President and no one else could have stopped her.”

He hasn’t done anything yet that I don’t approve of - but, presuming he does, I’m determined to keep that in mind.

Without Trump, we’d have Hillary.

He gets an almost endless amount of points for that. More than he could probably EVER use up, IMHO.

I probably should have put it another way.

The Kushner family is a big Dem family on Jared’s dad side.

She backed Corey Booker.

Her views are Dem oriented.

She may be registered independent but her past is more Dem.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Palin, Christie, Giuliani, Brown, Romney won’t also be informal, off record advisors.

She may have some feelgood ideas but she is intensely practical & knows how to get things done. We elected Trump to put the country back on its feet & rein in big Government. He seems to be setting out to do just that.

I haven’t heard a lot about this guy other than that his family—like the Trumps—is in real estate and that he married Trump’s daughter. What kind of experience he has outside of real estate that would make him a good advisor in matters of national government or international affairs seems to me a big question mark at this moment.

Let’s hope he is for small government, personal freedom, individual responsibility, shrinking the federal monster, and a strong national defense. Someone with those concerns would be my preference for advisor to the president.

I agree with you 100%, except for the point about the private security. Trump has thrown the entire political establishment in Washington into disarray with his victory, so I have no problem if he’s concerned that government-run security operations leave him vulnerable.

I'm glad Trump won, but I don't trust him much more than I trust the liberals in his family.

Trump himself has been all over the map on almost every issue over the last decade, so I absolutely understand the importance of keeping him under close scrutiny. I'm no more comfortable with this Kushner guy as a senior advisor to Trump than I would have been with Chelsea Clinton working for her mother in the White House.

Even an egomaniac like Bloomberg, who could buy and sell Donald Trump, dropped his private security and went with the NYPD protective detail during his 12 years as Mayor.

When the Rat administration has so co-opted this once great country onto its knees, family would be a good move to provide trustworthy people in many areas of government so that equally trustworthy information can be had and relied upon. Go for it Trump!!

I don’t think ego has anything to do with it. Was Bloomberg ever in a position where he had to be concerned about the integrity of his NYPD security detail?

It is interesting that Jamie Gorelik is his attorney.

Like Jack and Bobby?? Or Bill and Hillary, vite for one, get two. If his son in law is among the few Pres Trump can trust, that says more about him than it does about the available pool of advisors.

If that’s true, then I’d rank that up there among the most disturbing things I’ve ever read on FreeRepublic.

“...and it’s worth mentioning his real estate endeavors because he’s got a lot of potential conflicts of interest in any administration role.”

Handled before the fact.

He’s an Orthodox Jew.

Suck on that.
